hi,
i want to update my bios for my asus p4c800 now i have downloaded the file from the asus site and unzipped it and then put it to floppy, i then downloaded the afudos file and put that on the same floppy
i restarted my pc and then it says "please remove floppy and press any key to restart"

i dont understand what i have to do?
i have read the manual

could some 1 please help me

thanks :D

Create a DOS boot disk, then copy the BIOS update files to the boot disk. Search under HELP to get the instructions on how to create the boot disk.

The new ver. 14 will not let you update in windows. I am having the same problem. I did create a boot disk then ran A:Afudos.exe then something weird came up on the screen like ( afudos [o/rom] afudos [i/rom] ) or something like that I did not write it down. I did not want to kill my board so I just exited out

ok i got it you must type in Afudos.exe/i/P4CED14.ROM or Afudos.exe/i<P4CED14.ROM> I cannot remember what way to type it. If you type it wrong nothing happens so dont worry

i have tried using the windows update but it does not work
so i have to create a ms-dos disk and put the downloaded file on it(unzipped) then once i restart i type what the name of the bios file is and then that is it?

I'm glad this is being asked as I'am also confused.

The directions in the manual are awful...at least for this newbie.

I have some questions. Can you guys please help.

1. If I have the "support disk" (the CD that came with the mobo) do I still need to make a bootable floppy-or can I always use the CD if I have to restore the bios?

2. In the manual (page 4-1) "creating a bootable floppy disk" When I follow the directions for making the disk in windows I can't reproduce the same steps. It says:

click on "start"... point to "settings"... then click on "control panel"

where is the settings? or are these directions incorrect? should I go to control panel then settings.

I'm so confused
:(

When I go to add/remove programs there is no option to create "startup disk". there is no startup disk tab

this is my problem, what is giong on? what am I missing?

do u have windows xp?
because i found that problem as well but i have a 98se startup lying around so i used that

how do u create a start up disk with xp?

To create an MS-DOS startup disk
The MS-DOS startup disk you create will allow you to boot into MS-DOS.

Insert a floppy disk into your computer's floppy drive.
Open My Computer, and then click the floppy disk drive to select it.
On the File menu, point to the name of the floppy drive, and then click Format.
Under Format options, click Create an MS-DOS startup disk.

I think the directions are for xp....but it won't work for me. If you figure it out let me know as I'll be installing everything in the next few days...and I need all the help I can get.

You'll have to try it both ways ...start with it off. Once you're near your max. oc run some stability and performance benchies both on and off.
