I currently have a Asus P3V4X (new version) and I want a board with more bus options, my 700@1053 isnt fast enough..lol

But heres where i need the help...what would be the best board to get for upgardeability and compatibility...Is there a board that will run my 700 now and also run the newer chips that are comming out.?
And, this board is a slot1 board..will there be a slocket for the newer chip to work on this new board that i want to get?

I read something about all this a while ago,but cant for the life of me remember where I seen it or if any other new has come up.

this is the system that will go onto the new board
256mb corsair pc150cas2
Raedon 64mb
20G maxtor 7200/66
SB live
acer 8x4x32
dvd
intel nic

With a slot type cpu you dont have many choices.
The only non bx slot type intel board out is the abit sh-6.
There was talk of some company making a adapter for taulatin cpus but they said maybe in 3 months and around $90.00.
All the boards out now that have tualatin support are socket type.

If you want a good board for a tualtin cpu gigabyte has a new ga 60xet that really is awesome for overclockers.

I just checked out that Abit board..looks nice...do you know what the bus options are, i didnt see a manual on the web site....

I was kinda hoping to get a board that could run my PIII now and be able to run one of the newer chips with a slocket later...

Oh well looks like a good excuse to justify building a new pc to my better half.. ???

Let me get this straight you only want the new board for more bus options when you have 1.05ghz?
Take my advise don't bother, you will only get a few extra mhz it just isn't worth it.

Um, well...yes.
but now that ive taken a step back form my speed addiction, i think im going to leave this system the way it is and build a 2nd rig from scratch again...I think im going to start on my AMD project early ;D
