upgraded from am4 to am5 did i choose a good cpu?

so recently upgraded from a 3900x to a 7700X and im wondering since i game at 1080p 144hz if i should have gone for the 7800X3d instead i scored the 7700X for 219$ us so i think i got a good deal did i pick a good cpu or will i have gaming regrets later if it matters gpu is a sapphire pulse 6700XT cpu parts should be here in two weeks

....my motto is to get the best you can/want to afford.

The 7700x is certainly an improvement over the 3900X, at least by IPC and clockspeed (may be very close in heavily multi threaded things), however if I was primarily a 1080p high Hz gamer, I would have gone with a 7800x3d.

Yeah my best friend went with the 7800x3d when choosing between those exact two CPUs. He loves it, though right now his old 1080TI is holding him back from fully enjoying it.

So... there's ALWAYS something.

There will ALWAYS be a newer, faster, better CPU. You're never going to win at that.
