Gentlemen

I know this is not abt. over clocking however who knows more abt. these boards than you guys.

I get Fatal ex oe28:ff04ec33 the current app. will be terminated.

I get as far as oe28:ff0 from the Microsoft fatal exception list but rest of the numbers (4ec33) don't give me any help as to what the problem is.

The error comes up when you plug any usb hardware into the port.

Windows does not even get the chance to detect the new hardware.

IRQ sharing should not be a problem However on this particular mother board (ABIT BE6 r2) I have had some problems with its pci slots. I had to move the pci sound card from slot 5 to slot 4 in order to get the card to work.

I don't have a clue abt. USB and the problems with it and the older I get the less I want to mess with it.
600E
256 pc100
20 gig ata 66
zoom modem isa slot
S/B pci slot 4
No other cards
I sure could use some help.

thank you

Which OS are you running? Have you checked in the device manager to see if USB support is installed, you should see Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller in there, if you don't then you don't have USB support installed. My BE6-II is using IRQ 07 for USB. Do you have "Assign IRQ for USB " enabled in your BIOS?

Slot five PCI is virtually useless unless you have a peripheral that does not use bus mastering, unless you have your HighPoint controller disabled, in which case the bus mastering signal for that slot is now available

Thanks Greg for the post:

Briefly:
Abit Be6 r 2 Main board
Win98 SE ( all up to date)
600E
256 mem pc100
20 gig 66 ATA High Point (lasters drivers)
cd drive
3 1/2 “ floppy
Zip 100
Zoom modem ISA slot
Sound Blaster in slot 4 PCI

The problem : USB not working
I get Fatal Exception OE has occurred at 0028:FF04EC33. The current app. will be terminated. This happens when I plug any usb hardware into the usb plug. Windows does not even get a chance to detect new hard ware.

Heres what I have tried so far:

I have installed the lasted USB update.
I have installed the SE shut down patch.
I have enabled USB in the Bios.
I have turned off error detection in the control panel.
I have turned on and off PNP OS in the bios.

The only change in the fatal exception was when I removed the zoom card the fatal exception changed from 0028:FF04EC33
to 0028:FF04EC73

Thank you and thanks for the suggesting so far
