Any of you know if it is possible to use the FX51 chip on a dual opteron tyan board even if not using it for the dual processors? I'm not particularly interested in overclocking it, I just want to be able to use the 64bit PCI slots.

fx51 is basically the new operton 248, so just get the operton to be safe

I wouldn't buy two of anything unless SMP is explicitly supported or many people have had success with it in SMP.

How many confirmed people have 1.48's running SMP?

You guys are missing the point of his question, i THINK this is what he wanted:

"I want to run a single athlon 64 fx51 in a dual capable board so I can have access to 64bit pci. I wont run 2 cpu's just one. I cant find a fx board with 64 bit pci"

Why not spend a little more, get the 248s, then 2 years down the road, u can add a second for under $100 prolly.
