I'm currently running my 2500+ OC'ed as in my sig (13.5x166 / 2249Mhz) using a Volcano 7+

Temps currently are @ respective fan speeds:
(Average 18°C Room Temp, 30°C System/Mobo Temp)

3000rpm:
46°C Idle / 56°C Load

5000rpm:
42°C Idle / 49°C Load

6100rpm
40°C Idle / 47° Load

Now while I'm happy with these temps at the moment, Summer is coming and I want to keep (if possible) my load temps under 50°C.

I've looked at the various options available to me to lower noise (The 7+'s Hi setting is intolerably loud) while maintaining, or even improving my temps and the best option I can see is possibly replacing the 7+ with an Aeroflow, but would like comments from other ex-7+ owners who have got this HSF as to the improvements they noticed (if any).

Other recommendations for a replacement HSF are welcomed, however take the following into account, Thermalright's high performance HSF's are not really a practical option for me for various reasons, not least the fact that the only supplier for them I have found in the UK is one supplier I won't not deal with (Based on their reputation / feedback etc.).

Krishna.

Which supplier is that?

I think I may have used them in the past :D

Ive got a v9, so I cant help you, sorry.

start:

Sounds like "Overcrockers" ;)

You must have missed the bit of my post ruling out Thermalright's SLK series (Or any TR HSF at that).

Supply for TR's HSF's over here is a problem, no-one in the UK has them, except one dealer who has them at one hell of a a price premium - a supplier that also has one of the worst reputations going and I'll not buy from, in addition to the fact that an SLK won't install on my board without some capacitor bending, which I'm uncomfortable with, but thanks anyway :)

I just swapped a Volcano 7 out for an Aeroflow yesterday. If I were you I'd do the same. I kept getting temps of 47-57° idle with the volcano after lapping and reseating about 3 times. My temps now with the Aeroflw are 30-32° idle and 38-40° load. Thats on an XP2100 Palomino w/ASIII. Room temp 75-80°F.

I'd say it's definately worth it.:)

I second that .. before I went water, I put aeroflow .. it indeed has the best performance/noise ratio

I just got rid of my volcano 7+ (piece of trash in my opinion) and am now using a SLK-900U. Idle/load with Volcano 7+ was about 45 idle, and 55+!!! load which really sucked. now with the slk900u its about 38idle and doesn't seem to get above 47 with full load and I just put it in, so temps should still drop a couple degrees during the next few days (break in period ;)).

BTW, I'm using an enermax 92mm Fan with my HS, I have a tornado which might take off a couple more degrees, but 54dBA is a bit too loud for my tastes (sounds like a vaccuum is in my case), my enermax fan runs at about 32dBA and puts out around 53CFM does a great job and I can barely hear it :D.

heres a link to my fan

skip the Aeroflow, i got one a few days ago and the fan was DOA. tried it on two different rigs, but nothing.
i'd go with a SLK 800 and a smart fan.

You could also try to use the all copper Zalman hs... as long as you don't move your comp around too much. It is way heavy. But it cools like a champ.

whats wrong with overclockers? i got my slk-800 there. also brought a cpu there. I've never had any problems there:eek:

Anyway DONT get any thermaltake heatsink as a replacment. Espicially the v9. if you thought your all-copper v7+ is bad, wait till you get a v9 in there............

Well, Got the Aeroflow and it was worth it, temps have dropped to:

38°C Idle / 43°C Load / 25°C System.

And it's *alot* quiter than my old 7+.
