Also I am pretty sure there will be a work around but if there isn't people should keep this in mind when deciding what to buy.
Im sure there will do. AMD already said that the CPU codes needed to be changed to support them. Most likely we will see the same thing we did with winchester. SC boots and works fine, DC hardlocks with no POST. Big whoop. Just wait for a new BIOS or hack one up yourself

will is still work in the via chipsets? if so, i will be very very happy! ;)

I am sure the problem is also existant in via motherboards, unless via designed their chipset and the manufactures designed their BIOS's to accomodate this to-be feature.

I still think however, that this is more BS from the INQ, and all motherboards will need a BIOS flash to be compatible.

I cannot think of any circumstance that would make thermal protection incompatible with a motherboard, except for the BIOS, which can be easily flashed.

What do you mean by "SC" and "DC?"

Yea seriously. Has anyone linked this post to DFI street for comments? Lets see what Oskar Wu says

The INQ has some good stuff, but most of these "prediction" types of things are usually BS.

I mean, when they make a report about what SLI is and that it is coming, yes, that is legit, but usually things like this or "the X300 is to go AGP next year!" are usually BS.

Single-Channel and Dual-Channel

Oh, I see :bang head . I should have known that.

I agree though, this most likely is what I said above, where it wont work, or perhaps even just the new thermal protection features don't work, or crash the system when they are enabled.

Something like thermal protection are usually quite easily fixed by an updated BIOS.

I cannot see one single thing that would cause an entire chipset to be incompatible just because of thermal protection.

I think the inquirer is again full of doodie. They're often more interested in theatrics than hard fact based tech news.

Wonder if you'll still feel that way when systems costing 1/2 as much as yours pulverize it w/ an nF4 board and a 3000+ E0. :D

I really hate to sound like a ****. But information like this really makes me glad that I got a prescott :D

I wish I had a 6xx Intel as well, but they are not cheap.

Again, even if you had an AMD, you most likely would be able to upgrade to the E0's, with what I said, a BIOS flash.

That is *IF* you can get it working without buying a $250 mobo :D <note that mine was a whopping $88> :D

I hate to start an AMD/Intel war going on, but I doubt an AMD on air cooling could have better general performance than an N0 prescott at 4.2GHz.

It would take one fast AMD to keep up. These Intel's have been clocking very VERY well on little vcore lately.

Although, you won't have to re-buy a $250 mobo because they will probably release a newer BIOS to flash it to as the INQ is most likely full of ****.

Usually when people say such things, they know exactly what is about to happen. If you don't want to start a war, then don't post such comments :)

Wise person you are. (I just realized I sound like yoda :attn:)

I was merely stating that it was not my intent to spark a heated AMD/Intel debate, despite that fact that I was posting in disagreement with TimoneX.

Bassically, I guess I was trying to say that I wasn't arguing, but was just posting my thoughts on his comments.

Either way, you are right and it would have been better off not said. Thanks for giving me that headsup though! :)
