Ok I didn't know where I should post this, but since it does concern Vidoe and Sound I figured here is here it goes. If not I apoligize to the mods.

Ok here is the question I have. I have a MAC Computer ( I don't know what kind of MAC though) and I want to take some old VHS Video tapes I have and make them into DVD. I know that I'll need a Video Capture card for this, but isnt that just for the video part? Where will my sound go or will i even get any sound? What Software is best for the conversion once I have the sound and video in the HDD?? Also did I read right when I read that it takes 2.5 gig/min during the conversion of the video?? Any Help would be cool on this project, I don't know much about MAC computers and I just got this one.

Thx everyone!

I can't really speak on the MACs, haven't used one in years. However I would imagine it would be pretty much the same as with a PC. You may or may not need that much space (really depends on if you're a quality buff). If not you wouldn't need that much space. All-in-one solution video cards will take the audio as well as the video from a VHS signal and digitize it. Wish I could say more but I can't speak with experience concerning MACs.

Thx for the info HousERat, you actually helped me a great deal because i never knew it would take the audio as well as the video. I Always thought it was 2 seperate signals. ^_^

Anyone else?? The more info the better ^_^ hehehe

If the video card doesn't have sound input, you can always hook it up to the sound card's line-in jack.

well, depending on your codec you use and the amount of compression for capturing the size varies. When i record videos from my sony dv video camera, each tape is about 12gb. 1 tape = 1 hour. Also VHS isn't very high resolution so you can probably keep it low res

Thx guys :D

Anyone else have any info on this??? Maybe an other Site where MAC ppl hang out and could help me.
