I am having more than a little truble getting the sound to work. When I try to install the via drivers, it tells me its not enabled in bios. When I go into bios- it only gives me two options: disabled and auto. It's set to auto.

The mobo is an epox 8k7a

Would a bios flash fix this?

This is my familys computer so i would prefer not having to do that.

not sure about your mobo, but is it possible you have two devices and both on?
It screwed me up for a bit on mine as I don't have the optional SB audio chip. Using the Via is fine now

You might get a better response if you posted this in the Epox AMD Motherboards section.
A BIOS flash might fix it, I'd go to Epox's site, and look at the BIOS listings to see what they were supposed to fix. Using the latest motherboard and VIA 4in1 drivers couldn't hurt either.
If your board has Awardflash built in, as I suspect it does, you can flash it using the alt f2 method, which is easy and fast.
