Previously I have been using a Voodoo3 2k agp and had this problem where i am running any benchmark or games, and if the room temp is rather warm(30+), the benchmark or game will automatically exit(Booted out to desktop) after some time. But if i lower the overall roomtemp by even just a few degrees lower this prob does not occur. I think that it may be attributed to the usual vid card overheating so i run down the speed to default and the same thing happened. Then i read an article abt the V32k not running properly even at slightly high room temp even at default speed so i slapped on a heatsink n some ramsinks thinking all is fine but wtf, same old problem.

Thinking that the V32k is kinda old anyway so i scraped whatever pennies i could n got meself a GF2MX400 BUT same problem again-premature exits to desktop. I tried testing various vid cards like GF2 GTS, Radeon and ran evrything at default speed and voltage but all show the same symptoms.

1 thing i noticed is that this problem does not occur for cpu intensive stuff as i managed to run sandra2001 or prime95 for hours without a hitch.

I narrowed down the problem to components overheating related 2 operation of the vid card but ??what??. my case is rather well ventilated with 2 intake n 3 exhaust but maybe i can pinpoint the problem area n slap a heatsink 2 it or add cooling.

Anyone ever had this problem?

This had been botherin me for months now with no practical solution in sight...
Somebody, anybody pls help.Thanks.

My Specs.
KT7(UL Bios)
300W PSU
Duron800 @ 1050
V32k / GFMX2400

Yup, both cpu and Vid card stock speeds, n also stock voltage. It maybe the southbridge but that is just an assumption and unless its certain, then i may apply add+ cooling to it. Ram temps seems normal though with the finger touch...

have you tried to digt thru the bios settings related to the agp slot, AGP 2x/4x..fast write etc? What OS are you using?
However it is quite strange that this seem to be temp related... with both cards! Dont know, cpu temps ok?

Yes, i tried fiddling with settings related to AGP and not, and i also tried running all components at default speed and voltage but still no good.

As i mentioned that the problem will go away by lowering overall room temps with an air-conditioner or taking the side covers off altogether and not specifically to the vid card like chipset cooler or ramsinks to narrow down the problem to that of other components overheating other than the vid card.

Adding a side intake Globalwin CAF12 will only solve the problem partially as the problem will still occur on really warm days.

I might take off the covers completely but noise is an issue as all the fans in my case especially the 7000rpm delta produce quite a lot of noise. With the covers off, the noise is worse.

I was hoping to fing the specific part overheating n apply cooling so as to nick the problem where it started. If there is really no other choice then i may just have to throttle down the delta then remove the cover.

Btw, i am using win98se and cpu temps seems ok hovering around 48-50C tops.

Anymore ideas pls help. Thanks!
