video artifacts

what do video card artifacts look like onscreen during windows or a game so i can be sure i am not pushing my card over its limits. I just bought my nice new gforce 4 thermaltake copper cooler and hope to expect to get much better o/c then the reviewers

most common ones i see are little green dots everywhere. also one is missing or dropped textures. anything really in the quality of the imagine while OC'ing to me is considered an artifact..
