Video Capture question

I want to make a music video using footage of games (of me playing these games ) and i want to now what programs there that will let me capture whats going through my 9500pro to the monitor, you know? Is there anyway i can do this? (i know i can! )

What programs do do this? Any free ones? (i think snagit does it, but its only evaluation-then-pay).

I think the technical term for this is screen capture.

Any help would be appreciated.
