Video card compatability

Will a MSI GeForce4 Ti4200 video card be compatible with an Abit KT7A mobo? The presently installed video card is a Voodoo 3000.
Memory is PC 133, 384mb. CPU is AMD XP1600.

voodoo 3 runs q3 and ut great. i had one until a few months ago. i must say its much nicer now though.

You should be fine, most cards are compatible with most motherboards/chipsets nowadays.

Standardization has come a long way since 3dfx days

here are a few ideas for DX9.0 cards...

ATI 9600pro or 9600xt if you are on a tight budget.
9700pro or 9800pro if you got the cash....great cards that can be used now and in a future upgraded rig.

nVidia 5700ultra or better yet the 5900xt are great budget cards.
the 5900ultra is a great card for the price, but if you OC the 5900xt you sould do as well.

check newegg.com refurb section for cheap 9700pros....
they have a great return policy, so don't go nuts if you get a bad refurb card.

the 9600's or the 5700's will be fine...don't worry they will work in a 4X slot just fine.

An 8x card will run fine at 4x speeds. The 9600 uses very little power, so it will be fine, but you might need more for a 9800. I have seen 9800's running on 200w shuttle power supplies though.
