I've been cranking the voltage on my GTX 780 to 1.288V. If the 780 were to fry, could it take out the motherboard and/or CPU and/or system RAM and/or PSU as well? Or would the video card just fry all by itself?
 
Aaahhh... Scotty... I burnt a 7970 who took my mobo with it! I might have been unlucky, but both the dual-x and the Z97 OCF-M died together in a tragic ballet! ;)
 
That is a rarity. Although I can see maybe a spike backing up through the PCIe slot killing a board, so I suppose it's possible.
