I'm considering upgrading my videocard and I wanted to get some suggestions. Would like to keep it around $300 canadian (about $200 US) if I could. It must have a TV tuner. Or should I get a separate TV tuner card?

Any input would be nice.

Thanks.

I suggest the ati all in wonder. This card has everything and will still do pretty good for games.

I would get them seperate that way when you upgrade the vid card you still have a tv tuner.

Unless you have no PCI slots to spare, you should get a separate PCI TV tuner card. Hauppauge makes some TV tuner cards that are a good choice.

See here.

The model 401 is usually a good choice. One of the main reasons to get a hauppauge card is because they have good working drivers for win9x and win2k as well. Many of the other TV tuner cards out there, like ATI products, suffer from very poor drivers especially under win2k.

For details on capturing with your TV tuner card go here and here.

Also, check out the A/V club section of the forums over at arstechnica.

One good choice would be ATI Radeon All-In-One, altough I don't know about it's price. One thing I don't know is how will it take to oc... TV tuners are unknown territory to me.

The Radeon All-In-Wonder (not all-in-one) is what i was refering to. It costs around $200 retail. You could probably get an oem cheaper though.

Thanks all for posting. I think i will go with a separate TV tuner card. The Hauppauge stuff looks really good. Thanks SP.

Now the question becomes which card to get without a TV tuner card. Has anybody looked at the Kyro II chip coming out in a couple of weeks? The Hercules Prophet 4500?

Guess I should start a new thread on this.

I can suggest NOT to get an ATI TV-Wonder (seperate card). It works, but it is buggy software and doesn't interface with other video cards well, including my radeon! Haupage has very good ratings so look for on of them!
