You mean to tell me that the man that runs this site can not get a new ti card. Probably as a result of keeping all of us happy. hmmm

I have one and im very happy with it

I bought the first visiontek ti-4600 that came in at my local BB about 3 weeks ago (i have a friend who works there and grabbed it for me. 400 bucks is alot of cash but to me its the biggest bang for you buck investment if you are a computer gamer. I was using a geforce 2pro for 1-1/2 years and that was a great card (still have it, went in my wifes system) but it struggled with a few things when it came to running my 19" monitor and its lifespan is shortend by the games coming out this year. The 4600 is literally double the performance of my gf2pro and then some. It is even held back somewhat by my cpu (1.1ghz) which is good to me cuz a simple cpu upgrade will give me even more video performance in the year to come. my 3dmark 2001SE score went from 4000 to 9000 without any tweaking or overlcocking, and i can actually run under the same exact settings in Q3 that i had before (1280res with max visual settings) and now run with 4xFSAA and max aniso and get even higher average framerates than before. simply amazing. The only complaint i have is with the drivers and the refresh rate under win2k. I'm sure it will eventually work its way out but for now it kinda sux.

Hey Super, What other games do you play or use to test your system? There is another thread, where a Bunch of other ppl are having game problems with thier Ti Cards.
(slower performance, etc, etc. but faster 3dmark2ko1 scores)

Also in short, what cpu, mobo, mem r u running?
Thanks,

well the list is long

I play alot of games and they all work better than before. I have an abit bX-133-raid mobo overclocking a p3 933 @ 1100 mhz w/256megs of OCZ 150 2-2-2 sdram. I just got the refresh rate fixed in win2k with some modified 28.32 drivers and the nvidia refresh rate fix program. I regularly play these games.
1. Quake3, Quake2, Mods, RTCW, etc.
2. Half-Life, Opposing Force, TFC, Counterstrike, etc.
3. Unreal, UT w/custom openGLdriver and high res textures
4. Serious SAM, Serious SAM second encounter
5. ALL C&C games plus Renegade.
6. All MS FLight SIMS including Combat and 2002 Pro
7. Some Jane's flight sim's and X-plane
8. All 3 moto racers and Motorcross maddness 1 & 2.
9. Blood 2, blood 1, GLQuake, misc. old games.
10. maxpayne, All SIM games, Civ3, tropico, Homeworld.
11. Sacrifice, Rune, Need for speed 3 & 4.
12 other Misc games i can't think of right now.
I also host alot of LAN parties and just had one not too long ago.

wow that is a great score..if u only had a AMD cpu, u could hit the 12000 mark :)

Oh please if my mobo would allow more then 115 FSB I would destroy the 12000 mark. AMD pfffffffft j/k. I ran the score with 120 FSB but I had to back it down due to lockup issues sniff.

supergenius74 may i ask what kind of FPS you are getting in Flight simulator 2002 pro with everyhting maxed out in game sitting at a run way and with a 3rd person view looking at the airplane? i also have a geforce 4 Ti 4600 and doing just what i typed above it slows to 13fps! and sometimes hits 9! this is on the system in my sig, also if you did not know hit shift+Z 2 times to display your fps :) thanks in advance!

I will check when i get home

I well test it when i get home. I run at 1280 and with quincunc FSAA on instead of the 4XS setting, the 4XS runs too slow and doesn't look that much better at that resolution. FS2002 definity puts the smack down on my system more than any other game. I read a review at www.simhq.com about the 4600 and running fs2002 they determined that the processor is holding back the framerate more than anything and they tested with a 2 ghz northwood cpu! I only have a 1.1 ghz so once i upgrade the rest of my system i'm sure it will unleash this bad boy. Still i can't complain because i had to run medium settings and no FSAA at all and no res higher than 1150 with my geforce 2pro so i have more than doubled my performance by just changing to this card.
