I found this fan here: http://www.bigfootcomputers.com/Mer...foot&Product_Code=1409HSTT&Category_Code=1400

Specs are: 36cfm @ 4500rpm which equals 31.5db
It claims that it cools BETTER then the FOP38, yet it is even quieter then a FOP32-1? Don't add up to me guys... and if this IS true, that means that fan is better then anything out there... So I wonder how it (the fan) performs on a Fop38 heatsink? or an Alpha? Thought you guys would want to look at this...

I've ordered this ( http://www.plycon.com has them for only $17.00) just to put this fan on my PEP66. My goal is to go for the big CFM numbers of a Delta without the damn whine.

If I can ever get time to rig this stuff up I'll be sure to post results. (Really, what I need to do is set up with the YSTech that it came with, get numbers, then swap out - isolate the fan as a factor).

Anyway, I'm banking that it's not too good to be true. We'll see.

I am *very* interested in this fan, but I havn't heard anything about it, which makes me wonder... according to the stats its the best fan out there. I still think that 36crm @ 31.5db sounds a little off, but heck, even if it's 30+cfm @ 35db it still compares with the FOP32-1.

The price here in Canada is $28, the Fop32-1 is $29 and the Fop38 is $39. So they says it's better then the Fop38 and $11 cheaper... it thats true, it gets my vote :) That $11 will almost cover the cost of some Artic Silver II <G>

Oh, just a note... you can pick up 256mb of Crucial PC133 ram (CAS2) for only $91 here: www.crucial/webpromo

They are offering free overnight shipping to Canada too!

C566@952 w/1.55v! (default is 1.50v)

Intel sucks... Going AMD platform in 2 weeks!
KT7A-Raid, T-Bird 900ish (O/C of course)

I am also interested in one I saw it for $12.95 at www.CoolerChips.com
I wonder how that fan can move so much air and be so quiet.
I will wait until I see a review or two.

I found this about the Volcano II...

"The fan Thermaltake picked is an Everflow F126025BH. This dual ball bearing fan moves 36 CFM at only 31.5 dBA"

Says it has an 18Fin heat sink...

Perhaps this fan on a Pep or FOP38 heatsink would be even better?

I really want to see some reviews/results of this fan... I will be purchasing a Fan/heatsink in 2 weeks and I want to get the best one the first time around.

I looked for Everflow on the 'net....I wanted to look at the engineering spec's for that fan. No luck...if anyone knows where to find it, please let me know.

I just checked the spec's on the "Volcano" heat sink. It compares to the other Thermaltake products so I would expect similar performance. That fan looks familiar....I think I saw it somewhere on line recently.

Thanks for the link. Nice review of HSF's. The Volcano outperformed the Super Orb due to the different fan I would think. I'd still like to see the engineering spec's on the Everflow...a short test period doesn't match real world durability requirements.

That's kind of what I'm afraid of. I think this HSF's performance is largely due to the fan. I got mine the other day, and the fins in the heatsink are nice and thin, but the base isn't very thick and the whole thing just seems to lack mass.

My idea, as I said, is to put this fan on an Alpha and try to get the best of both worlds. My concern is that the "too good to be true" part will kick in, and the fan will jam or burn up or something in about 100 hours. Guess I'll let you know.

I'm hoping to, since it seems I'm becoming a test case for this situation.

Be patient, though. I've got a shelf full of system mods waiting to go on, including the Alpha. My current nightmare is getting my wife's new system networked (this following the Windows Install From Hell), and then I get to play with my own toys. Basic rule: make wife happy first.

But hopefully, this will all happen soon. I'll check temps with the YSTech first, then put the Everflow on and note any difference.

vantec vantec vantec......thermaltake is junk. watch that temp rise under load, the hs cant take it. thats y the vantec is so good, it'd be right w/the core if it had the same black label 7k fan equivalent. plus u guys gotta love that clip, and the price, 17bucks. with this thing on my tb, i could feed it crack and it will run cool

good luck

I picked it up for $12.95 off ebay. Couldn't resist that deal. I've hooked it up to power but not on a board. It is way quieter than the Delta 38 and has no whine to it. The heatsink isn't amazing but I'm going to try it anyway and maybe install copper to the bottom to see if that helps performance since the Pep66 already has a copper pad. Here's a picture of it installed on the msi pro k7t that I just picked up off ebay for $48. I'm going to mod it for multiplier adjustment once I get a processor. So what should I get duron 700 for $47 or Tbird 750 for $72? If anyone installs this fan and runs it please post some results!

Thanks
