voltage mod? upping the voltage?

what exactly does upping the voltage on your cpu do??? a volt mod has something to do with this but i am unsure exacly what. Help here is appreciated. Why would you up the voltage on your cpu???? Thanks

upping the cpu voltage can gain a more higher overclock and a more stable overclock to a surtain point. when you up your voltage you will need better cooling.
