Two questions.
Fist does VP6 softFSB program actually work? Im using it under win2k and it says my OCs are being set successfully but when I benchmark using sandra I dont see any increase in preformance. Whats up?

If I set the fsb too high it crashes my system, thats the only indication Im getting that it works...

Second, Im using the first beta version. Is their a newer version?

If you want to see if the FSB is changing then you can look in the program CPU-Z from www.cpuid.com. It will show both the CPU speed and the original speed that it was designed for.

Intel also has a program that shows this. What does Sandra say in the System Summary screen. That is where my higher speed shows up. The warning that I am overclocked is in the Performance Tips at the bottom of the CPU and BIOS information module.

Tim sent over WCPUID and it is showing that my CPU is running faster. So the question of whether the program works has been answered. Yes it seems to OC the CPU.

So why is it that when I run Sandra's CPU and RAM benchmarks they don't show any change in preformance?

If your Abit is like mine the FSB doesn't control the memory speed. My SE 6 can run the memory at 100 or 133. At least that is what the report is. If I am wrong on this it sure wouldn't be the first time.

Another CPU benchmark that you can try which is quick, is:

Currently I am trying to finish a wintune at 959 MHz. I can't quite get to the end without the system freezing. Must be reverse burn in. I made it to 959 in the past.

Another neat thing about wintune is that it lets you compare your system to those of others. A lot of overclockers save their results. Also you save it with an email address. You can compare to previous saved values by using the email address as a filter.

As for Sandra, I don't know the answer as to why the CPU didn't budge. Here are my 700 MHz and 933 MHz results. 1888 dhrystone vs 2524 at 933MHz. And 935 whetstone vs 1256 at 933MHz.

ive got the same mobo as you. its nice huh! when i use sisoft it shows a change in ther cpu after a tweak from that vp6fsb program. as for the memory, im in the same boat. i run my kingmax 128 at 150ish fsb 3.4v cas2, all banks set to turbo, and the four way thingy as adviseded by hardocp.com. enyway after it all the memory settings it dosnt change much if any, and the duron 600 always kicks my ***.

Phantom,

Is this just the regular Soft FSB from Oda? I am getting confused here because you are calling it vp6fsb.

im talking about the progam by christian hansen made only for the vp6. i think thats what shes using cause the h 'ode soft fsb dosnt sopport the vp6 or rather its clock generator. tim has a link posted in one of his replys. he tried to sneak it past me but i often scan his old posts:). anyway thanks for asking cause i was deffinatly just asumeing i knew what was ment by "vp6 soft fsb"

When I set my FSB in the bios I see dramatic increases in preformace across the board. CPU is way up RAM is way up ect. But when I set the FSB using VP6FSB program I get no increases at all.

IE I boot up at 700mh I get 1889/948 then I reboot set the fsb in bios to 933 and I scores go up to 2400/??? then another reboot & change in the bios to 1050mhz gets me 2799/1418 My final highest OC through the bios is 1073mhz giving me a score of 2858/1448.

But when I use VP6FSB program it seems to set the fsb higher and WCPUID indicates it is running at the faster speeds but sandra benchmarks my CPU at whatever speed I booted up at. And those scores don't change no matter how high I push the FSB.
Same goes for my RAM. I see major jumps in preformance when I set the FSB in the bios but nothing in when using VP6FSB program.

I think the VP6FSB is working, therefore there must be some flaw in Sandra SiSoft that doesn't recognize the changes.

This is a shame because I can get much higher OCs with the VP6FSB vs rebooting and changing the bios.
