Who here has any hope of actually purchasing a new 5000 series Nvidia card or a AMD 9070 at a reasonable price...if that is even possible. I can buy a 20GB 7900 XT right now for around $650 and be done with this mess. I don't believe for a moment that $550 figure being thrown around for the 9070 lol. Thoughts?

Depends on your timing and needs. I'm still looking for a 5090 as I have built a PC for my kids that is just waiting for my 3080 to slot into it

So, you believe you will actually have the chance in the near future to purchase a 5090?

I mean, I guess so? As much as anyone that is actively tracking inventory/stock and hoping to get one, then as prices increase those that refuse to spend more drop out from trying?

From all I am seeing nearly all of those cards are already sold to scalpers...I'm not that eager. I don't possess any more optimism on a 9070 being available either. I could be wrong, but the history has been telling.

Well 9070 won't be for another month or so, and I imagine will depend on its performance and value etc.

The overall quantities of 5xxx that made it to stores has been super small. Newegg has had many sold in bundles with other parts (akin to the 3xxx launch and maybe the 4xxx didn't follow it closely)

Yeah, ever since the Pandemic and Bitcoin mess I've struggled to come up with gpu's in general. I tend to be behind the curve on gpu's anyway...hate paying the ridiculous prices. Made a promise to myself last year I would not be selling any more of my gpu's regardless of age. Too many times I have wished I had one of them on hand for various reasons. The 5700 XT I purchased during the Pandemic is still going strong and I have a 6800 XT in the current gamer which is doing a great job at the moment. I have a Intel Arc B580 inbound for a project and considering a 7900 XT upgrade for the gamer.

nvidia screwed the pooch on timing more than anything else, they new supply was going to be almost nill because their suppliers were or are closed for an entire month and I imagine it's not like chip production automatically starts back up at 100% at least not in any electronics company I've ever worked in. If this driver crap I heard about yesterday is remotely true then waiting would be the smartest move.
