Okay so I'm up for a new pc build maybe for the ivy bridge. Never done water cooling yet. I read the article "Beginners Guide". I just did a raft draft on my water cooling setup, can you guys tell me if this will greatly cool my system? Or can you guys switch it around to make it look more epic?:p

Any comments/advise are appreciated. Ty. This is the NZXT 810 Switch

Gotta love when newbies break out the diagrams :p...

The Switch is one of the easiest cases to water cool...everything just naturally fits. But I should mention that a 360 radiator is actually longer then your diagram suggests. The inlet/outlet ports for the radiator will be somewhere in the middle of the 5.25" drive bays. This could limit space for fittings and tubing, especially if you plan on using the top 5.25" drive bay (necessary if you plan on using spring loaded 5.25 drive stealther). The top 5.25" drive bay can be removed if you need space, but you don't have to if you just flip the radiator so the inlet/outlet ports are towards the back of the case. This will necessitate some tubing re-routing however.

Also, there is roughly 3" of space maximum between the PCI brackets and the side panel. So whatever reservoir you get, make sure it'll fit in that space.
 
I just realized you don't actually have WC parts on hand...so this is going to be one of those threads where everyone goes round and round describing every little step or suggestion, resulting in diagram after diagram, culminating in the OP buying an LCLC unit as his/her brave foray into water cooling...

I'll leave you with the best advice I can give about water cooling the Switch 810....my very own Switch 810.


A monkey could setup a WC system in the Switch, it really is idiot proof. If you think something should be a certain way, chances are it should...so put down the MS-paint paintbrush, and pickup your credit card and buy some parts....you'll be happy you did :)
 
Curious as to why you have the tubing coming out of the back like that. Are you planning on having any part of your loop external?

Also, so long as reservoir comes before pump, loop order really doesn't matter much. Make it so that there's the least amount of tubing and you'll be fine.

Hopefully others will chime in with some other useful links to do some reading. There's no end to learning materials for watercooling :) Welcome and have fun!

Nothing I just played with it, I just wanted to be creative:p... So will my illustration work? I'll just put it directly output pump to inlet rad. I just realize that BadConnection's setup doesnt have a pump?
 
As I said, order doesn't matter. Shortest tubing run is preferable, with the exception of res before pump. And yes, Bad ConNecTioN's setup has a pump. He's using a reservoir top for the DDC (I believe), which replaces the top of any DDC variant pump (MCP35XX).

I'm going to make the suggestion to hold off on ordering any parts for now. Keep reading the stickies, and the links therein, and read up some reviews on Skinnee Labs and Martin's Liquid Labs. It'll help you to fully understand the science behind watercooling and help in avoiding any leaks in your system.

It's great that you're so eager to get going, and it's a wonderfully addictive hobby, but when you're playing with water in a system that costs hundreds if not thousands of dollars, it's always better to take things slowly.

Read more, come up with a parts list, and post back here with what you've come up with. There are plenty of watercooling experts that will gladly give you advice and let you know what will and won't work, but you have to do a bit of your homework.

You can plan and finalize your loop order all you want, but chances are when you have your stuff in hand, your plans will change and adapt to what will and won't work in your situation.

You shouldnt run your tubing anywhere it doesnt need to be. Your just gonna add restriction on the bends and more friction because of the longer length.

You should probably do a bit of research, by one block a pump, rad and a res and start from there. Kinda sounds like you shouldnt jump in so quick.
 
Here is my switch 810 build.

Bad Connection does have a pump - it's under his res.
