ok say the pump fails on your WC system, can you get a far connected up that will automatically switch on at a fault that will keep the processor cool until u shutdown?

There are some waterblocks available that also have fins on top and a fan in case the pump fails but now they are rare. I do believe that BladeRunner posted a way to make a switch that turns the system off if the pump fails and he posted a method in a thread at O-Cuk (www.over-clock.co.uk)

I cant remember where the thread is or its title but if you look up BladeRunners profile he doesnt have many posts there so go through his posts.

i dont know of any links or anything, but arent there programs that will shut down the computer if the processor gets too hot? like my a7n8x-dlx has the C.O.P. (something like chip overheat protection) and that's some kind of motherboard feature, not a program. but i would think that there are programs that could do what you want without having to wire some fancy circuit.

well the advantage with hard wiring is you don't have to worry about software malfunction. Actually I remember an article on the overclockers homepage about making a flow sensor switch as a part of the loop. I'll see if I can find it.

Like Smirabi stated, COP or other motherboard shutdown features should keep your proc alive. What happens when an aircooler's fan fails? Overheat protection was the only thing I used when I aircooled. The 3 boards I have with overheat protection are pretty reliable, they usually shut down within 1-2 seconds. Software on the other hand is iffy
