I dont really need to bother getting the retail version of WD's hard drive for extra money, right?

Save your money. I don’t think it’s worth the extra $$$. I have three WD drives (2 OEM and 1 retail) and they all work the same, and I’ve never had a single problem with any of ‘em. That’s a great drive BTW. I want one. :D

Hmm, price watch has the WD 100gig OEM drive for $156. Not bad. I got my 40gig last year for $145.

Hey, with that 120 bucks you just saved, can you get me one?? :D

J/K :p

So I just need cables for it?

Yeah, that’s all you need. The rounded ones are really nice if you want to spend a little extra $$. I have a few of ‘em and there’re great. They take up less space in your case so you can get better airflow, and they come in different colors, which is pretty cool.
