So I have my rig listed in my sig, I'll post it in detail again.

5600x
Gigabtye Aorus Elite Rev 1.0
32GB 3200MHz CL16 Corsair RBG VENGEANCE Pro 2x16GB Kit
Corsair RM850x 850w PSU
Samsung 970 Evo Plus 512GB nvme
PowerColor Red Dragon RX6800 XT

So for months I was having WHEA errors that were related to CPU apparently, I was able to get an RMA through AMD thinking that was the case, it was not. After a few days the same issue came up, I ran memtest86 several times and it came back good. I tried different ram and no difference as the issue is random at low idle states, gaming etc I am rock solid stable but I'll come home to a windows restarted unexpectedly blue screen. It's only when say I am sleeping or when I am away from my PC for hours does the issue come up. I am so lost at this point, I don't think it is the PSU, it turns on every time without issue, I do occasionally after having this issue my system will not post at all, I can try it 15+ times before it finally decides to post, I don't know what to do at this point and what might be wrong. 25+ years of building I have never had an issue like this. Any ideas? I am thinking Motherboard at this point.

Probably worth running a benchmark like prime 95 small ffts to see if you have any issues with the new CPU. Otherwise your guess of motherboard is a possibility. Running latest bios/drivers/etc?

Yeah everything is up to date, I so highly doubt it's the CPU it was a new in box sealed from AMD, I don't think honestly there was anything wrong with the old one Plus I have never had a bad CPU, this is going back to the late 90's it's kind of unheard of lol. But that's the WHEA error I was getting, all kind of pointing to the motherboard at this point. I never pushed it hard at all, the old CPU didn't care much for an undervolt so I left it stock, might have been the motherboard the whole time. My thermals are great in every aspect, I had no issues for about two years and then suddenly the instability. I am kind of torn on just going AM5 but I have a new CPU so might just suck it up and grab another board from MicroCenter, the return period would buy me enough time I think to rule it out and worse case just wash my hands of it.

That all sounds good. I have never had a bad cpu either until a couple months ago I started having random stability issues with my 5900x (WHEA errors in event log). I ended up doing an upgrade but passing down that system but replaced the CPU with a 5700x3d for my son and haven't had any issues since.

WHEA errors is CPU and/or Memory and/or Motherboard, but that fact that it only happens when you're away for a while says maybe windows being windows and not recovering from sleep/hibernate mode?

Yeah I thought about Windows being windows I've done several installs of 10 and 11 no change, either way doesn't explain my system not wanting to post occasionally.

If preventing your PC from going to sleep doesn't help (did you try that?)....How old is that PSU? Got another handy to test?

Maybe power it off when you're going to leave. That helps the symptoms, not the problem, but...

That would just put a bandage on the situation lol, I purchased the PSU in the summer of 2022 and I have a 500w eVGA in my old system which I don't think will quite handle my current rig with my 6800 XT unless I severely undervolt it and drop the clocks or put my RX 580 in my system and see what happens for a few weeks but that would be brutal lol.
Is there any newer firmware for your SSD? Samsung Magician
Yeah my firmware is current, first thing I checked when the issue started happening as I knew of the Samsung issues. I am debating pulling my SSD from my backup system wiping it and disconnecting all of the drives on my rig to see if it's maybe one of them causing the issue, and work my way back from there before going and buying a new motherboard.

A 500W PSU will do just fine with that system without underclocking anything. You'd be lucky to break 400W with both the CPU and GPU fully loaded. ;)

Would be close to outside my comfort zone lol, CPU pulls around 75w maxed (PBO which is almost a locked 4.65GHz) with the GPU with an undervolt and overclock around 315-320w under full load plus my storage drives so should probably leave the OC alone if I try the 500w to be safe considering spikes have gone over 400w lol. Gonna try the drives first I think and see what happens.

Sure, ditch the overclock if you feel queasy (says the guy with a 13900K and 4090 on 750W for a while - moved to 850W, lol). Remember, it just needs to still idle, get to sleep, and consistently boot. If it can do that, you know it's a PSU issue. If you want to game, take the OC off the GPU. It's a 240W card gaming (stock) according to TPU.

TPU shows 300w lol I think you looked at the 6800 not the XT.

Good call. My bad! Doesn't change a thing for me, though. I'd do that, especially for just testing. ;)

Yeah for testing it shouldn't matter as it's just going to be sitting at idle, now if this was a gaming scenario where my system was shutting down it would be an issue I think lol.

Ok so little update, finally found the time to want to fix this issue lol so I have my EVGA 500w unit installed, had to pull my RX 580 8GB and install as the 500w unit has only 1 cable and the pigtail was being stupid so I had to remove it, but anyway the testing begins now I'll leave it like this for a good week and see what happens although it's going to be painful with a 580 lol.

Just noticed your motherboard, 2x settings helped my memory and CPU OC/UV testing, setting VCORE SOC to 1.130v (you would need to experiment for your 5600x) and VDDP to 1100 as auto was way under the supposed normal.

Thanks, if I continue to have this issue with this PSU then I will have to look elsewhere and will try that if need be but I should be ok I am not overclocked or undervolted currently but we shall see.

So far so good, no whea errors or any kind of weird ****, uptime is currently 2:04:00:42 with no issues. Time to look into an RMA for my 850x. Never had luck with corsair PUS's lol, my luck has not changed. Edit - Submitted an RMA request and now I wait to hear back, wish me luck not sure how their process is, haven't done an RMA with them since probably 2004 lol, a lot has changed.
