normal to a white to a senior in less than 3 months... jezus how the structure of this forum has changed. - seems like every week theres a new senior member.

Regardless congrats man!

See the 2 members I have quoted below? That is the truth of the matter. You want white stars? Then earn them like hokie did and contribute material for the front page. :comp: White stars no longer come from posting a lot, but rather showing that you are contributing to this website and forums and that is just the way things are now. And I don't know where you are coming from with this "3 months" stuff as he has been a member here for some years, not months. And you are seeing more members being selected for the Senior ranks becuase they are due it because of the contributions they have made to this community with their helpfulness and knowledge and the willingness to share this with the rest of the community.

Like I said, you can earn the white stars if that is bothering you so much. Come up with an idea for an article and run it by hokie; I am sure he would be more than happy to help you in formatting and planning your contribution. :)

Structure is the same as it was the day I joined 9 years ago. Gratz Hokiealumnus :comp: I just had to use the new smilie

Yep.

He got the whites for being a content editor, and the Blues because he deserves them. He's also been helping out here, for over 2 years, and deserves the Blues more than a couple Seniors that I know. (Like me for one!) I'm just surprised that Hokie didn't get Blues sooner.

To tell you the truth, I'm not sure. I thought that they were giving white stars to people contributing articles to the front page also. If not, then my bad, but IMHO they ought to show a perk to people that contribute to the front page, which includes writing articles that get published. Otherwise, what is the incentive for forum members to write something for the front page then?

If they are doing that, they havent started it...all white stars are CE's at this time (with a couple exceptions being senior member CE's).

Whatever, I'll not derail this thread any more. But that's not the hash that was slung a few months ago about doing away the white stars that were already given out.

Cut it out man. Spamming your way to 4,000 posts was NEVER a step to becoming a senior member, neither is being a content editor. He has put in some good work in the forums and some good work with the new front page ideas coming together too. Things are the way they always were and being a senior has never been reliant on post count.

Congrats again hokie - I know I already told you, but I wanted to say again in front of everyone what a great help you've been around the forums.

You set a great example with your attitude and helpfulness, and your a great overclocker and contributor all around - well deserved!

You are right, we had talked about giving white stars to authors, but I decided against it - it helps to have the content editors stand out, so people know who to go to when they want to write something.

As for rewards for authors, that's something we're working on. Right now they gain notoriety across the community and readership - our articles on the frontpage get thousands of views, much more than a typical forum thread. It's a way to stand out on its own. I want a good badge system for the forums though, so repeat authors can get badges to reflect their efforts. We'll also be raffling hardware once our hardware reviews scale up, active contributors will be elligible to win free hardware. Rank changes and such are also an option for any author - pretty much anything I'm able to do I'll try to make happen.

This whole frontpage thing hit the ground running before we had everything ready, so we're improving as we go. Fortunately, we have a great crew of content editors, with guys like HokieAlumnus leading the way and keeping good content on the site. :salute:

Yeah, I've learned this recently. Rather was more into how it was done... Promotions and such.. Need to be part of the team.. Don't make wise-*** comments to members, and see the whole picture, or outside the box. He has always been a gentleman with his PM's never a wise-guy. Very polite, and well mannered. This promotion was well deserved.. We worked together on my two articles and asked me if the updates were ok.. He did not just change them. I was glad to help him with the front page content..

Congrats again!

i was just saying what i have noticed recently... seems like ppl are changing colors left and right is all LOL... was nothing against Hookie (he does tons for these forums and i respect him quite a bit)

BTW did i say ANYTHING about post count in my original post?

Regardless i will say what i said before. Congrats Hookie.

I could not agree more. There are those that are not interested in being a writer for that sake alone, so the forum badge thing, or a custom user title (front page contributor) would be nice for them.

Absot00tly!

This guy is all over the place :) really knocking it outta the park and could not be more deserving of the increased responsibility and stress that comes with it! LOL

:salute:

Congrats on the Smurfing hokie!

Guys, I've been following Hokie's smoke for a few years now. If I had my way, he'd get Greens in a week or 2.

This guy busts his hump for this place. (Along with a couple more!) Slide over to The Raptor Pit, and check out his work there. He used to be Mod at Abit's Forum, while they lasted. In fact, he and YellowBeard were the lastMods to be appointed, before that company went under.

Apparently now I get trash cans instead of any stars. Knew I shouldn't be so snarky in my first day. :chair:

That is way to kind, but thank you just the same.
