I forget the name of it but there is a game out there that makes amusing use of the six axis and has you moving some rubber ducks through a maze of water that you can tilt around using the six axis. Is simple but fun. You can get the demo free and that is really probably all you'll want to play.

Don't forget your PSP can interact with your PS3 and even play PS1 games over any Wifi that are in your PS3 (provided the PS3 is turned on).

Ooh... Don't diss on Super Rubber Ducky.

HOLY CRAP

I just got my off my lazy butt!

Since my PSTripple auto detected my PC...

Went to WMP 11
1) Open my Library
2) Added a music folder
3) Hit Apply
4) Went back to PS3 and it's streaming music perfectly!

IT TOOK ME 30 SECONDS, oh my god this is amazing.
Now I have to see which videos can play.

**Picky picky...

some DivX and Xvid, MP4, mov...

The videos that are supported looks great though, no stuttering, instant tracking, no downgrade of quality!

360 does the same thing. Only caveat with the PS3 is that your videos have to be in a folder named "VIDEO" (must be caps) and your music must be in a folder named "MUSIC" or else it won't see it.

As soon as I saw Fudge's name I knew it would say this. ;)

All I did was hit add, so I dunno.

360 has better video codec support right?

I was just surprised at how easy it was to set-up is all.

The 360 was a gigantic pain in the *** to setup. I don't think my PS3 has spotted my laptop yet. I'll get on that later tonight.

I'm not sure, (There's guides for this)

Just enable sharing with WMP11 and restart PC and PS3... I think that will work.

PS3 shows up as unknown device for me.

Either way the PS3 version will probably be better since it can take advantage of the HDD and have less load time (or none )

I wouldn't expect great things. The PS3 version of Devil May Cry 4 requires an install and though game is supposed to take a little less time to load, the differences are supposed to be so small that there were some stories to the effect that it made no difference at all.

I thought I might ask as I have heard great things about the PS3's upscaling of DVDs (one home theatre magazine roundup had it beating out most of the dedicated enthusiast devices). How does it manage with video files streamed over the network?

GTA has much more loading than DMC4.

.

If it supports them it does them fine.

I actually checked back and changed size to "Original" and it went to half the screen size. However at full screen it looks fine at normal viewing distance, up close (3 feet) you can see some distortion.

The video is 1280x720 so technically it should take up most of the screen (1378x768 or whatever) unless the PS3 is thinking it's outputting in 1080i under it's settings...

Either way at normal viewing distance the video has no blurs, boxes, bad color shades, or stutters. Very crisp imo. Max video rate I got while watching was 2.5Mb/s

I'm going to try a full DVD later (this week) if I have time.

Now that blu-ray pretty much won the format war, that was the last kick I needed to get a ps3 as well- I'm not getting rid of my xbox 360 though, I <3 my elite :) (and, I'm a bit of a game collector anyways...)

I wanted a hi-def player so finally bit the bullet and bought a 40GB PS3 last weekend. I'm with you though, there's no way I'd get rid of my 360. The PS3 is a nice well built media machine, but the 360 is still the gamer console to own right now.

I dunno, RROD and movie playing aside I think they're both pretty equal with the 360s actual gameplay being a bit better, but I chalk that up to hard/sloppy programming issues and hard/sloppy porting to the cell.

I can agree with most of that. Except that, from a hardware point of view, they certainly aren't equal. The 360's video chip seems to have a slightly easier time with most games (though games like Devil May Cry 4 and Oblivion have proven that the PS3 is more than up to the task) and the PS3 is more hard drive space by default, the capacity to easily add even MORE... and Bluray which gives it more space on the disc.

If we're talking about the present I'd say the PS3 has worked itself up to the point where it's ALMOST even (It's not because PSN hasn't made it to where Xbox Live is yet)... but if we're talking about the future... once Sony updates their firmware and overcomes some programming issues... microsoft is going to be in serious SERIOUS trouble. And that's why I switched.

I really don't see a way out of this for Microsoft. As long as HD-DVD was still around they still had options. (But even then their options were limited) They could always add more hard drive space and start using the HD-DVD drive for games. I don't know what the hell they could do now though. Because the future is like HERE.

It sort of reminds me of 2003 when it seemed like Sony had done everything they could do with the PS2 and all of a sudden they released God of War which showed programmer's they hadn't come CLOSE to doing everything that could be done with the system and lead directly to games like Okami and... that other game (that I keep forgetting...)

Rainless I know you want to justify flushing your 360 investment down the toilet and are enjoying the "new car feeling" of your recent PS3 purchase, but I think your outlook of Microsoft's 360 heading into "serious SERIOUS trouble" is a bit premature to call at this time.

Seconded.

Well "at this time" you're right. I'm talking about the not so distant future. And the only thing I need to justify the switch is the figure that brought me my receipt: $287.

I think Microsoft's trouble started the day HD-DVD failed. It'll be a while before that becomes an issue... but I'm sure it will.
