Hello,

I currently have an abit bh6 v1.02 board with a 700 celery co running
stable @ 1054 volts 2.0. I'd like to upgrade to newer, but used
ABit mb, in the hopes that the higher ata 66, or ata 100 might make
my system perform better. My OS is WinNT4 patch 6, I've heard
reports that NT does not take advantage of the higher ata 66 tranfer
rate.

Thanks in advance

If you want ata 66-100 just buy a ata 100 drive controller.
The promise ultra 100 works very well for around $35.00

I've looked at that option;however, a used, but newer board, could also provide fsb freqencey increments of 1 Mhz, DRAM expansion to 768 M from 384, in addition, to the possible increased ata standard for the same price.

The 700 celery is a fga. Currently I have it in a slocket to fit it into my slot1 ABIT BH6 board.

I really like ABIT's SoftMenu II system. however, if the ASUS boards settings can be
changed via softfsb1.7 I'll take a look. However, the three reasons for change is to
get ata 66 or higher standard, fsb adjustable in 1 Mhz increments, DRAM expansion past
384. Oh, of course I'd to do this for around $30.00 (hence a used board).

One thing I neglected to mention is I have a Seatgate Pro 9140 harddrive. 9.1 G, 7200 rpm.

My last post should have said 700 celery fc-pga.

I have an extra Abit SE6, but it doesn't have the 1 MHz FSB increments like you want. However, it does have the ATA100 controller, custom cooling mods done, and lots of other nice features. Email me privately if you're interested. My new SA6R does have the 1 MHz FSB increments, plus a RAID controller. Not many of the SA6 mobos for sale used though (too new).

Thanks for the offer; however, I would like a board with 1 Mhz increments. I believe the celery 700 can't take advantage of
ATA 100 anyways, although I think the new celerys can.

I just got an Abit SA6R and it rocks. 1 Mhz steps and the thing is rock-solid. ATA-100 Raid if you need it built into the mobo. It's a big one so you need a fatty case but it's worth it.

Also, I'm terribly sorry but I don't beleive you'll find a board with the features you require in the area of $30-$40. The old BH6 that you're on now sells for about $50 and up.

My current ABIT BH6 board sells for $14.95 Canadian ($9.00 US) at
my local electronic surplus store. I live in Toronto.

I've done some investigation and its looking like ABIT BE6 or
the ABIT BE6-2. might serve my needs. The most current versions
of the bios support the celery 700.

Try

www.above-all.com for the email address.

Note, the website isn't worth sh*t. Basically, they just pile boards into
boxes of differing price, kinda like a rummage sale. Every week
is a different assortment.

If you can buy defect free motherboards at that price you could make a killing reselling them on e-bay.

If you want a slot one board, then the BE6-II is the one you want.

Does the softfsb work with BE6-II ?

Hey yakko, I think the BH6 supports 768 megs! The manual for the rev. 1.01 tells u that it only supports 384 Mb, and 128 Mb DIMMs as max. But the rev. 1.04 supports 768 Mb and 256 Mb DIMMs! (according to the manual I downloaded from Abit´s site).

If I understand this correct, the only difference between the rev. 1.01 and the rev. 1.04 is the BIOS. Upgrade it, and you should be there.

I truly hope that is correct, because I ordered a Cas 2 PC133 256 Mb DIMM. :D
Will recieve it in a few days, could get back with results.

Greetings,
Henry.

If you want abit then a VH6-II but I personally would go with a asus cusl-2 only thing the asus is limited to 512mb ram.
But the VH6-II has gotten very good reviews.
It has the via chipset thou.

The VH6 II is good board but it only has a high cv of 1.9

not only that the vh6-2 has no VIO settings and default is 3.3 ouch as far as CV i'm working on a mod but i cant find specs for the power management IC chip dang that elusive FB pin! other then that the vh6-2 is very stable
