Increasing vio is said to help overclocking... but what kind of problems are solved with it?

Can it prevent my hdd from fooling with my data? (that would mean I could go another 50Mhz higher... )

actually all it seems to do is increase stability and heat. If you intend to increase voltage, plan on having better than stock cooling.
