I just put on a Zalman heatpipe cooler on my 5900XT ( 5950 bios OC'd to 475/900  ) and get ~38 idle and ~65 load temps.

I never ran the card with the stock cooler, so I was just wondering what kinda of idle and load temps people were getting. What's generally considered "safe" and does anyone know when the throttling kicks in? Is it temperature related?

Thanks alll...

i'm idle at 34c right now, never seen the load temp above 43, although i did replace my heatsink with a stock athlon xp sink with a copper core and a ttsf2.
max artifact free clocks in sig, everyday gaming at 475/975.

how you monitor VC temps?

I have a 5900xt and after reading NVidia tech papers, temp can be monitored using the Display properties menus. But I don't see it.

I've got a BFG FX5900XT flashed to a 5950 Ultra. No temp display here. i thought it was the bios that enabled/disabled it. I've flashed numerous bioses and still no temp display. i have no clue what my vga temp is.

I don't think the XFX or BFG 59xx series have temperature sensors on them unless it's an Ultra version. The one's I've seen didn't either ;'(

So really It all depends on the the Video Card makers BIOS too, I suppose.

no they just skimped on the sensor all together. lots of people have flashed with 5950 bios from lots of diff card manufacturers and still no temp readings.

My albatron fx 5900 epv runs fairly hot at around 50 idle. Its pretty hot here upstairs though, maybe 30 c (thats NOT the case temp, case maybe 37 or 38c idle) and the epv is no xt or se. No temp difference whether I overclock or not, the ambient temperature is probably the reason. The 5900epv right now without a flash can get up to 469/922.

So: ~50 idle, and 69 is the highest I've seen it go (right after back to back benchmarks then playing bfv)

EDIT: oh yeah I use stock cooling (which is pretty nice)

My Gainward 5900XT doesn't show the temp. Any sw i can dl which would do that?

If the sensor properties aren't showing up, you probably haven't got a sensor on your AGP PCB.
