OMG! What cooling are you using for your CPU (1.6a @ 166fsb!)? Do you think i could run mine that high with a Swiftech mcx478?

I'm using a Alpha P4 cooler... with a 68CFM fan.. don't go with a Sunon 50CFM or anything less... because they suck.. the alpha needs the delta to get good temps...good luck...

Fried my 1st 8500 doing this. I went ahead and bought the retail version this time and I have the best voltage already.

295/295 with stock cooling. Slightly reluctant to add extra cooling after first card died. Still 295/295 is fast enough :), and I'm away to upgrade CPU this week which will help a lot anyway......

300/615 STOCK!

I'm watercooling it soon, and I've just attached my Ramsinks...
Then as I'm watercooling it I'll volt mod it, as theres no danger to the card then.

275/275 atm on a le, will do 300 perfectly fine till a few hrs of gaming then the heat starts to kick it and it looks like a choppy comb went over the display. still doesnt crash, but just screws the display over till i reboot. i imagine with pencil trick and a better hsf+ramsinks i'd get 320 outa this thing. put an extra 50cfm intake in yesterday, maybe ill try 300 again:)

I have a retail 8500, with Rage 3D Tweak I can pin both @ 300/300 and still no artifacts. Does power strip allow higher than 300/300??

I have a cristal Orb and am curious, how easily does the h/s come off an 8500?

I'm running a temp probe to the ram on the back side of the card and temps during 3d mark go up to 60c load and 42c idle... for anyone whoes thinking get some ram cooling and go for 600+
on memory.

8500 OC and cooling

When I get mine, I plan on getting some $ilver ramsinks. I think there's a post about complications using a corb on the 8500. Search for it and see.

There can be a problem with the corb; when i put mine on my 8500, i put it too low, making it impossible to put the vid card in all the way without hitting a pci slot. I just got an Msi 645 ultra, which has one less pci slot next to the AGP, making it possible to put the vid card in all the way.

Powerstrip allows you to go up to around 350 ram and gpu on a retail 8500 card.

Actually its around 400! 800DDR!! (or even higher)

As for the GPU HSF put it in a anti-static bag, freeze it for half an hour, put a credit card on the PCB to protect it (nearest to the AGP slot at the bottom of the card for most room) then pry it off with a flat knife, it comes off very easily.

Just make sure to let is thaw overnight otherwise you'll be plagued with condensation!!!!
And please, be careful, I've damaged many cards by rushing and not using this method. I've never damaged anything using this method and taking my time.

Good Luck,
M_N
