I'm showing 4k video from Blu-Ray Disk UHD at 85 Mbps, Debian jellyfin to a remote device

🤷
Yeah. A google search is showing that I'd need 25 mbps minimum but I'm not sure about that. Even if I do need 85 mbps, 100 is still fast enough.

Finally new sub, I severly underestimated the size of this thing, its a piece of furniture. Was not fun getting a giant 84lb box up a flight of stairs by yourself. Glad I didnt opt for the 16in at 110lb.
And old sub its replacing just for sheer size comparison.
Even at half volume and -3db on the amp its shaking the windows, rattling other furniture.

I went from Spectrum 240 MB to Fidium 1GB for $30 a month less ($55 vs $85 for Spectrum). Pretty much faultless since installed, only irritation is the lack of a decent web interface for the Fidium gateway/router, I may dust off my old wifi 6 router and put that in place, not sufficiently motivated to do that as yet.

Exactly which model did you get? The new versions have their pros and cons. The older models had a motor to help point it in the proper direction. The new versions like this are simpler but I have read that you will have to play around with it a little to get it properly set up.

Starlink Models

When you get it set up use a program like Speedtest to see what download/upload speeds you are getting.

On the Starlink website:

The You Tuber JCristina has a lot of videos about Starlink.

I've been working from home for a couple weeks (Th & F's) with my Starlink and I have had exactly zero issues with it. The mobile app is very user friendly and provides useful information.

Setting up was incredibly simple. The app basically tells you what direction to rotate and when to stop. Once it's facing the right direction just tighten down the screws. Donzo. the antenna has a 110° range so once it's pointing North, you're all set.

I generally, get about 185 Mbps download speed. If I was to list a con, it would be the sluggish upload speed, but that's generally not as big of a deal. I do transfer very large amounts of data for work (C.A.D.) and just need to be a little patient when uploading my files to our work server.

Been dying to post this...

AIR FRYER! (the one in the middle)

I always wanted to try one out. And I figured: "25 Bucks? Why not?!"

The thing is AMAZING!

I already want a bigger one once I've cleared enough space for it.

But right now it sits comfortably next to my multicook steamer on top of my microwave. So essentially it takes up no extra space at all.

It's one of the smaller ones... but it's already changed my life.

Last night I made cinnamon rolls from scratch!

I had to look up how an air fryer works and I think you might have help sell me on one! Even if it sounds like I kinda need to learn how to make best use of one.

Dude... Just throw away everything you ever learned about cooking. It fries... but it also BAKES. You can do a basket of fries... or bake a salmon. It's INSANE.

Yesterday I made lunch, dinner, dessert, then breakfast this morning using ONLY the air fryer.

They're super easy to clean, too.

I'll give you a few examples:

Breakfast sandwich this morning: Piece of bread, bacon in a circular pattern, egg in the middle. 140C or 300F temperature... ten minutes. DONE.

Cinnamon rolls in the photo: Pre-rolled pastry dough (or you can make your own from scratch, though that kinda defeats the purpose), cut them into long strips, sugar, cinnamon, roll them up, put them in the air fryer using baking paper, cook at 180C (no idea what that is in fahrenheit) for 20 mins. Make the topping using plain yogurt and add sugar and stir until it tastes like a cinnamon roll topping. Put it on top of the rolls and DONE.

Fries are like 13-15 mins at 200C. Just throw em in there. If you want them crisp? You can drop a tablespoon of vegetable oil on them.

Doing the salmon thing tonight.

I really just wanted a replacement for the deepfryer I left in Berlin. But this is like FIFTY steps beyond that...

Why are you still reading this? Shouldn't you be at the store buying your air fryer? :p

Does the bread not burn before the other stuff cooks?

"and the award for air fryer salesperson of the year goes to..."

Sounds good. It's Saturday night here. Maybe tomorrow. I can try further researching possible options before then.
