Treated myself to a new queen size extra firm mattress, and you guessed it, from a Mattress Firm store. Once you start waking up with back aches/pains, it's time for a new mattress. Still amazes me how they shrink up a queen mattress in a 18"x18"x 64" box. Once you pop the seal on the plastic tho, the mattress blows up like hugeass survivor raft

So my family agreed we aren't getting eachother XMas gifts this year so... I ordered some more schiit -

A little Vali 3.

Update on my setup, currently using a Monoprice Liquid Spark Headphone Amp between an OG Modi MB and some HFM Anandas. I've liked the Modi just because it's a very small clean DAC that I've used since college. And I like the Anandas just because, well, once you get used to planars standard dynamic headphones sound kinda...bleh.

Now the problem with Planar headphones is that they need POOOOWWWWAHHHH

Which is why I got the Liquid Spark. It puts out a whopping 2.1wpc into 32ohm. POOOOWAAAHHH. But I've complained here before the line sounds...digital to the point it's screechy. Needed a bit of warmth.

Finally decided to move back to Schiit. The Vali 3 can't drive as hard as the LS at "only" 1.5wpc into 32ohm, but we'll see how it goes. Bringing a tube into the path should also "dirty it up" a little.

Edit: Should mention, Schiit flagged me as fraudulent. I'm apparently a dirty scammer. I'll have to wait till after the holidays to deal with this. Maybe get my dirty lawyers involved.

Since we're going adult in this thread, I got this -

Coworker gave out "gift boxes" to the team, and he included nibs of Fireball and...This? Honestly I'm ok with rum and coffee - that alone sounds like a nice "hair of the dog" shot to the morning drink. But caramel, that could be interesting.

I have no idea what they call these things in the States. First time I ever saw one was here. (Here it's called a "chaise roman."

At the very least it's better than the one they had at my gym (which only had the outside handlebars but not the pullup bar in the middle).

No idea about all the other crazy stuff I've seen people do with this in the gym (usually involving ropes of some sort...)

...I got it just for pull-ups.

I had one of those doohickeys that you put over your doorframe... but these ancient Provence doors aren't built the same way and it wouldn't work.

This is probably the best pull-up bar I've ever had.

My grandson had been griping that his internet connection in his room was appalling, 35 Mbps on a 1gig connection. His Dad had got a new fiber connection installed about 6 months ago, it dawned on me that he was still probably using cat4 cable on his network. A new 50 ft length of flat cat 6, which claims to support cat 7 and 8 arrived today. Hooked it up and bang, it's a Christmas miracle

He is now very happy, his father is awaiting a new set of cables for the rest of the network.
