Hi,

I'm thinking of getting an AMD T-Bird 1GHz and I want to overclock it a bit. Now I would need a mainboard that isn't too expensive and I came across the Jeway boards, they seem to have overclocking features and are very inexpensive. Unfortunately I could not find a single review of one of the following boards I'm interested in:
Jetwy J-663AS Ultra (VIA KT133A)
Jetway J-866AS-R (VIA KT266)

If you can tell me if these boards are any good for overclocking, please let me know.

If you are thinking of overclocking your 1gig AMD you will want to make sure you can adjust the following:

Multiplier
Voltage Core & IO
FSB etc

via setting jumpers or in the bios. I too owned a Jetway mobo and found they are very stable but offer poor performance. If you are serious in buying a AMD 1gig wouldn't it be worth it (performance wise) to get a Abit, Epox or Iwill mobo for a few extra dollars.
Think about it!

good hunting....

I wouldn't suggest a Jetway motherboard, from personal experience, as I had a really bad experience with one and my Duron. I think something from Epox, iWill or Abit would be a little bit of a better choice. But mine was an older model, so the newer ones might be better.

I don't have any experience with jetway. Take into consideration though that your mobo is really the heart of your system and saving a little more for a good mobo is well worth it IMHO.

I can only recommend Iwill or epox since those are the only two I have experience with but both are very good.

I've never heard of them until recently. If you are considering a board I'd take into consideration the level of information available to help you overclock it or just troubleshoot it in general. There are several manufacturers out there that are always in discussion on the boards. If you looking for value you can pick up one of plainer models of the popular brands from Abit or epox etc. You might not want RAID or DDR and you can still do well with the popular brands. If you do need support you will have much less headaches in the long run. I've found out that I get more information and ideas from this site and others like it than from the maunfacturers.

good luck!!

Perhaps you could post what your budget for a mainboard is or what the Jetways cost. Then some of the members could suggest a few boards in or around that price range that will offer more performance/features.
IMHO you might want to look into name brand boards. This is one area where you really do get what you pay for.

I emailed them and asked about overclocking features of the two boards. So we'll see. If these boards don't offer all the overclocking options I want, I'll buy a brand name board.
