with the SLK800 and the Smart Fan 2? I myself have an MCX462+ and a Smart Fan 2, so it's not a problem, but I'd just like to know what people are talking about when they mention the slk-sf2 problem.

I think there were some claims the slk-800 prefers the focused air fans (ie tornado) rather than the non-focused SF2....not sure if that is true or if its just hype, but I think thats the issue.

I've got that combo' myself. Basically, from what I've read, the problem is in the fact that the Smart Fan II does not have fins that direct the air in the right direction, causing the air to flow over the sides of the heat sink instead of through it. Just as an example, reversing the flow of the fan helps by a few degrees. The Tornado has fins designed to duct the air down pretty much centered in respect to the fan, so the SLK-800 benefits much from the direct air flow of the Tornado.
