moving to ohio once 2012 gets closer
i read about so many ppl overclocking there comps to INSANE speeds.
all that stuff costs LOTS of money. aren't you afriad your going to fry the chip and lose all your money u just spent? im buying a 3.2c and i have no intentions of overclocking it? it can handle any game out there so why push it to the max and fry your card?

im just curious not telling anyone to stop or anything

Well I'm not too worried about pushing my 44 dollar duron too far... i'll be a little more careful when and if i get my 64 3200 mobile... 300 dollar chip.

I've been thinking about this question a lot lately. Here's a typical conversation between me and a friend in regards to the subject.

Me: Abby!!! Guess what I'm going to do tonight!!!
Abby: What?
Me: I'm going to overclock my new Crucial BALISTIX!!!
Abby: Huh?
Me: I'm going to give it more then the recommended amount of voltage so that I can run it out of spec.
Abby: Why?
Me: ...fast...
Abby: That sounds kind of boring.
Me: You've obviously never seen Prime 95 in action.

I just don't think the numbers add up. You can buy a $50 CPU with a $50 heatsink and run it as fast as a $100 CPU. Sorry for the long post.

Its just fun. When the games get boring, its fun to have a huge burst of speed, and bench it. Just a thrill. Its atleast as fun as watching (or imagining) someone bullriding drunk.

ps. unless your a complete moron, its hard it fry something oc'ing, unless vmods are involved. It just wont post.

I need every drop of my 2.7ghz barton in order to achieve the performance that i expect. The higher the better

i think it's fun to make something slow go fast... kinda like what people do with cars... i mean, yeah you can just go out and buy a faster car for the same price, but IMHO, it's not as much fun as making the slower car fast... just a challenge and a thrill... it's like being thrust down the 1/4 mile dragstrip in a 1100 pound car in 10 seconds... especially when that car wieghed 2500 pounds when it started life, and took 18 seconds to get down that same 1/4 mile...
