Skyrim can still be fun, just download 80+ mods
, its a whole new game
I agree, they even made an Online play Skyrim mod, the first of it's kind. But it just doesn't keep my attention the same as Oblivion does for some reason. It's been seven years now and the game still isn't boring (although hardly any people are making mods for it anymore they've all moved to Skyrim). It'll burn out one of these days but so far, it hasn't.
I still pickup Skyrim occasionally and I haven't actually bought any of the dlc/expansions. I bought the boxset that came out in September and replayed Daggerfall/Morrowind/Oblivion. Meh, when Skyrim Legendary Edition get's to be like $30 and all the other games burn themselves out i'll buy the dlc/expansions and get back to Skyrim on a large scale again.
Personally I'm not looking forward to any new games. It seems companies just keep rebadging the same old junk instead of fixing current ones.
I agree, there are a lot of games that are just the same game with updated graphics. They have the same feel, the seemingly same story, the same mechanics, ..etc. I think comparing Vanilla WoW through Cataclysm proved this. It was an epic game at first, BC was epic, and then Wotlk was just a "Meh Arthas, we've been there done that. Nax? Been there done that, and they made it for horribads and massively nerfed all the encounters. It's the same content and story as the last two expansions". The only thing that really sold Wotlk was the last half of the expansion. Ulduar, ICC and RS were epic raids with epic hard modes.
I think that's why I'm one of the few people that really enjoyed Cataclysm. It's was a completely different story, we had new skill trees and skills
We're getting the same thing in WoD but at least WoD we're getting updated character models and a seemingly new raiding difficulty. Garrisons will be cool as well. It could be a great expansion if blizzard doesn't muck it up.
We did however get games this year that weren't just rehashes of their predecessors. Total War Rome II had similar elements to the first game but it was all in all a totally different game. The Witcher 2 didn't seem to have really any of the same elements that the first game had either. It felt like a totally different game and a much, much better game. Skyrim, was totally different than Morrowind/Oblivion as well but the changes they made just didn't catch my attention personally.
Hmm, just thought of another couple, but are only for consoles: Super Smash Brothers WiiU and Mario Kart 8 (wife pre-ordered them for me for Xmas). Me listing my to-own list for this year probably isn't very helpful though!
Console games count although I won't be buying an Xbox One, WII U or PS4 anytime soon.
There's only two console only game titles that'd make me want a console and that's Harvest Moon or Zelda. Neither franchise has come out with a game capable of holding my attention for longer than 10 minutes since the N64 so I've never had a console since the n64.
I suppose Gods Of War isn't a bad franchise but I heard a rumor that the next game will be making a PC debut as well so getting a PS4 would be pointless.
