Hello everyone, I was away from the computer building world. Last thing I remember was that the 295s were discontinued. Now I checked on new egg and they are back on there. Does anyone know why they stopped making them, early last year? I remember people were having stability issues when they first came out. Is that still the case? Is the 295 same in size as the 285?

I never thought they were discontinued ever, none the less a year ago.

I believe its bigger, you can check newegg and see the specs on the card...

They did quit makeing the dual pcb cards, and just put 2 cores on 1 pcb, like a 4870x2. I had a dual pcb one, but it is dead, and off to RMA. I read somewhere that the dual pcb cards clock better then the single pcb model.

i looked at newegg and couldnt find any they had instock.. all of the 295's say auto-notify, the only place that i have seen them were it dosent say there out of stock is bestbuy.com

i have a dual pcb 295 and its about to get shipped back as my 3rd RMA for this card. nothing over done just stock folding and fans at 85%... but never discontinued.

for me , yes.

Wow, 3rd RMA I guess I'll stick with the 285, so far it is able to keep me happy.

P.S. Did not notice the "auto-notify" earlier at newegg.

Thanks for the quick reply everyone

Im hopeing to get a single pcb card, the duals dont seem to be very good.. well maybe for a month or so they are ok.. Ive read of guys doing 4 or 5 rma's to get a decent card. Ill play that game if i have to, but id rather not :(

There might be some on ebay, wonder why thay are so hard to come by. Although I don't like paying $500+ for a card that has issues.

So pay $400 for a card about as fast (HD 5870) that has no issues or SLI scaling...100% balls to the wall on ALL games!

LOL, I'll probably stick with the 285 at least until the DX11 cards come out. Wanna see how much better they would be :D

LOL thats pretty funny. Also you should not have to pay more than $300 for a 295. I have seen them go as low as $255 on ebay.

(Odd that over the last few months eBay has had better deals then the classifieds on most of hte forums I go to :s)

I was wondering what happened also... some of the cards on newegg have not been on sale for almost 2 months. I was told by one company they had to pull there last 10 cards off stock but never gave a reason.

Do you know the specs? I have seen like 500 different versions. But from what I have seen it looks like they still won't beat the 5970.
