I know SENNHEISER HD650 are very good ones.

But i'm not sure if they have all the Surround and capabilities, etc. Like these do for example:

AKG HEARO 787 - Says it's got Dolby Surround Pro Logic и LOGIC7 decoders.

Creative HQ-2300D

What says you?

interesting.

as i understand it, the "surround" sound is simulated in hardware, right? if so, it's up to the sound processor. and if that's true, some of the better sound cards should be doing things that are pretty similar, like x-fi...

or am i missing something?

btw, there are some "true" surround sound cans out there that take analog inputs from all the channels and have several drivers on each side instead of one like in the phones you linked.

I have Creative X-Fi Elite pro sound card.

I need kickass headphones for gaming, so I guess all that surround stuff, DTS, Logic7 is needed.

Any ideas?

as i said, x-fi already has something called CMSS-3D which does a surround sound simulation for headphones in hardware. the phones you linked to are not surround sound by themselves, they are simply plugged into a sound processor that simulates it. and you already have it on your card.

on the other hand, if you can spring for those akg's, go for it. they seem like a good investment on their own merit.

check here for a comparative descriptions of dif. cans:

and then go here and see what ppl who know that stuff are saying:

Sennheiser HD650 are their top model audiophile cans. They are stereo and require a headphone amp to sound their best.

I have a pair of EH350's and I have to say. Amped VS non Amped, you cant go past (unless you want to basicaly waste your money) getting a nice amp to go with it

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD555s, sweet pair of surround sound headphones.
