i got this psu trying to solve my infinite loop problems - since there were rumors relating it to power, well, at that time i hadnt seen the hoot's threads yet, even so this one was pretty much the only one i could get. id like to know if it is any good:
400W
+3.3V=20A
+5V=40A
combined=266W(!); is this too much? in the Hoot's thread a good 400W unity should have a combined between 220-245W??
and, what else should i look for to decide for a good psu?

and, below the two +3.3V and +5.5V there is a MAX OUTPUT = 204W, what is it if using the formula i get a 266W?

I guess the formula you are using is (5v * 40A + 3.3v * 20A) = 266W.
I guess the 40A from the 5v line is only possible if the 3.3v line is not used. The same would be true for the 20A from the 3.3v.
I think, and probably you too, the 204W is the maximum combined output. I don't know how to calculate this number and would also like to know.

so what is the 266W about if the max combined output is about 204W, not 266W?
