I want to get this peltier:

226 Watt Potted Peltier

Maximum operating temp: 125 C

Imax = 24 Amps

Qmax = 226.1 Watts

Vmax = 15.2 Volts

Delta Tmax = >67 (C)

Size = 50mm X 50mm X 3.10mm

What would be a good psu to power this thing?

The psu for that you need to look for to operate that pelt, properly, would be one that has an ouput of 12-16 volts and capable of current output of 40-48amps.

I have a ps-36kx by Pyramid that is supoase to sustain 32amps with 36peak amps max, but my 220watt pelt will overheat the unit. Extra fans keep it stable but is still very hot.

what about this one:

172 watt peltier potted

Imax = 11.3 Amps

Qmax = 172 Watts

Vmax = 24.6 Volts

Delta Tmax = 69 (C)

Size = 40mm X 40mm X 3.2mm

Is it harder to find something for that or the 226 watt

You are wrong, it is rated for 6 to 30 amps output not 22amps. The 22 amps is the input.
Still not strong enough for a 226watt pelt capable of a 24amp draw. I have a pyramid ps36kx 12-16v 32constant amps with 36amp max to power my 220watt pelt. My pelt will make that psu look like a 30lb weakling;)

If the pelt you have is only capable of drawing 24amps then that's all it will draw so I am confused. How is your power supply giving it 32 constant amps? Your power supply is 12-16volts and the one I posted is 0-230volts and both voltage and amperage are adjustable by jumpers to what you want. 230volts at 30amps seems to be a far more powerfull supply than a 16 volt 30 amp model. Of course I don't think you would need any more than 24volts for pelt usage. If anything the one I found may be overkill and a bit expensive but you wouldn't have to worry about it dieing because you would only need to use ten percent of it's potential.

You can kind of throw the volts out the window. It is the current draw that will cause the excessive heat. That psu might just work, but going on past experience with high power pelts, that power supply will probably overheat and shut down while powering a 220 or 226watt pelt. But you could probably add more cooling fans to the psu to keep that from happening. It is all trial and error when pelt cooling and normally more errors than most people would like. Even the most detailed person doesn't rightly understand the capability of a 220+watt pelt.
