What is the best mobo for overclocking a Celeron II ? :)

I have a couple of things that are must haves

1. It's native FC-PGA
2. Plenty of room for the HSF (I have a GlobalWin WBK38)
3. You must be able to set the voltage to 1.9 or 1.85 volts
4. Not any VIA crap

Any thoughts?

Look at the Asus CUSL2-C and the Abit SA6.

What are the bus-speeds on that motherboard? on abit's homepage it says 66/100/133, but it said that for the mobo I have now also and that has 66/75/83-200 or something like that.. and are you sure that I can set the voltage to 1.85< since at least the BX-133 RAID doesn't let me do that ..

I assume that you're talking about the SA6R. Yes, I'm sure. This machine has been running on one since October. With an 800EB I've had it up to 960 but run it at 900 because I don't want the PCI freq up that high.

Personally, I prefer a slot 1/slocket setup. Then there's no need for concern about core voltage settings. You can set whatever you want right on the slotket.

You can still pick up very overclockable slot 1 BX motherboards from Soyo and Abit. Get one while they're still available. Look at the Soyo SY-6BA+IV and Abit BE6-II for under $100. My Soyo runs my PIII 700 @ 994 MHz rock stable all day long since July. No BSODs, no problems. I've set the core at 1.95V using the slotket and BIOS settings and my Alpha PEP66 keeps the temp at 34C max. If you're an Abit fan, the BE6-II is very similar to my Soyo.

I agree with the slot 1 setup as this is what I have and I am really happy with it, if you are insistant on getting an s370 board I recomend the abit bx-133 raid, as I think the bx is still the best intel chipset around and this is a good board on the whole

I'll definitely go along with what Dave had to say.

I have a Soyo 6BA+III (previous version to the +IV) that I had running my Celeron 600 at 117 FSB, or 1053 MHz if you prefer.

I got lucky and got a really GOOD Celeron....but this gives you another testimonial on what the Soyo boards are capable of.

As much as I like the Soyo, I'd trade it in a New York heartbeat for one of those Abit BE6 II mobo's......I think the SoftMenu III BIOS is a bit more versitile than what the Soyo offers.

Right now I'm using an Asus P3C2000 mb (still slot 1 configuration) with my P///, as the Asus lets me raise the vcore a bit higher, and I've got the P/// (600E) running at 159 FSB, which is more than my Soyo +III allows (max 155 FSB). The Asus has FSB settings up to 180.

But......the Asus also has the intel i820 chipset, which has the "lovely" (sarcasm) Memory Translator Hub onboard. This kills the memory bandwidth somewhat.

Come to think of it....I'd trade both the Soyo and Asus for the BE6 II........*sigh*

I have to say that I LOVE my Abit BE6-II v2 with my cele 633 at 1107Mhz.
Go for the slot one slocket combo like Dave says...

The thing I want to know about the Abit SA6 is the following ..

What is the difference between SA6 and SA6R?
What busspeeds are there on the SA6?
How high are you able to set the CPU voltage?
Does it have any integrated sheizze :) ?

"R" = RAID

Bus Speeds / Ratio / Increments
50 - 96 MHz (2:3:1) (in 1MHz increments)
50 - 140 MHz (3:3:1) (in1MHz increments)
50 - 250 MHz (4:3:1) (in 1MHz increments)
50 - 250 MHz (4:4:1) (in 1MHz increments)

Core Voltage Settings - 1.30V to 1.90V in 0.05V increments

The i815e chipset has integrated video (disabled by simply plugging in an AGP card) and the board has Avance Logic ALC200 AC'97 CODEC sound built in.

Thanks for the answers, I think I'll purchase one of those SA6's , it was only 40$ US in between if I sell my BX-133 when I buy it, so I think I'll buy it ..

it is a real shame you want a native socket becasue u will probably end up with a chip that is useless

what kind of slotket ? , maybe I also should mention that I haven't got that much room there since the power source is right above the socket ..
