What is the difference between the plain MSI 6905 slotket and the 6905 Master slotket?

I want to try one of these to see if it is more stable than my Abit Slotket!!!. With my Abit I have to use 1.95v to get my Celly2 600 to 1.01 gig. I'm hoping an MSI will allow me to drop the voltage a bit to 1.85 or 1.9. Temps are good but I don't like the high voltage. Any thoughts?

I don't know if it will allow you to get lower voltages, but i know the 6905 master slotkey will let you goto something like 1.5v and lower to u have a good range. You can go all the way up to 2v and in bios it will say 2.5v and you can use it that high too.Hope i helped!

You will need the Master version.

The Master will support the Coppermine C II 600, the plain doen't support them.

Thanks Mr B that's what I needed to know. Are you using one of these and does it seem pretty stable to you? My Abit Slotket!!! is rock solid running 927 at 1.7v but when I jump to 1008 I need 1.95v to be stable. Is it possible the 6905 Master could allow me to lower the voltage by being more stable? Thanks again!

No, actually I've got a Soltek SL02A++, and an abit !!! slocket on my Celeron 600's.

But before I got them, I almost made the (semi)fatal error of buying the MSI 6905 NON Master. Fortunately, the guy I was getting it from realized WHAT I was gonna use it for, and refunded my $$$.

*whew*

The MSI Master is a good piece, from what I've read/heard, the two mentioned above are good as well. Asus also makes a Coppermine compatable slocket, but I just woke up, and coffee withdrawls are causing me to forget the exact part name/number of that one......=)

You can mod them to support coppermines (the old MSI slotkets) but it's easier to get the master for sure :) Pretty rare these days, in the UK at least... good slotkets though, the old ones were tops too in the Celeron 366@550+ days :)
