Hello,
So basically there are loads of options nowadays, HDR, 10 bit vs 8 bit, 21:9 vs 16:9, 4K, 1440p, curved or non-curved, not to mention having to worry about ideal PPI's, brightness and model sizes and whatnot. I currently have a 24" 144Hz 1080p TN panel for gaming (mainly CS:GO). I want to have a monitor next to it that will become my primary monitor for anything other than playing CS:GO. And the most important thing would be watching movies and tv shows in great quality. Now to the questions I have:
Now especially thinking about the future, it seems to be that going with a 10 bit monitor provides an awesome range of colors. However, a friend of mine told me that it may be the case that when you watch a video that is NOT in 10 bit on a 10 bit monitor that it may actually look worse than if you were to view it on an 8 bit monitor. Is there truth to this?
Also, if you watch a movie that is 1080p on a 1440p or even a 4K monitor, will it always look terrible? I personally have never experienced this or seen this in real life so I'm clueless, but I have seen some people online complaining about this. But when you watch 720p on a 1080p fullscreen it is definitly noticable, I imagine the next step would be even worse..
I believe I will be able to make a much better choice when I know the answer to these questions.
Thanks in advance,
Baris
PS: I will be keeping my GTX 970 because whether I get something like an ultrawide, a 1440p or even a 4K, I won't be gaming on it so an upgrade there won't be necessary.
