right i messed this up once wiht my dfi board but what one should i get im running a quad core 2.6ghz 2x 1gb 1066mhz ram pc8500 and 2 ide hd with a geforce 7 what motherboard would this stuff work on properly?

2 IDE HDD's....if you run an optical also your gonna need a IDE PCI card.
As for what board to get I'd recommend the Abit AW9D, or P5W if you want the 975 chipset, otherwise the P5B or DS3 for somewhat cheaper boards based on 965

*edit*
oh i forgot about the 680i....definetly look into it, it's shown promise but I haven't seen anything concrete that it's the new king

by quad core, i can only assume you mean the intel. I think all 965, 975, and 680i chipsets are compatible with quad core intel chips, but I am not 100% sure about that. Do you have budget constraints? Are you going to try and overclock that beast?

erm not really to begine with mabey later on i will oc it, but i have about 220 pounds (GBP) to spend on a quad core board but will it also be compatible with my ram which is 2gb of pc8500 1066mhz ddr2 and my 2 ide hd

if you don't plan on overclocking, you can settle for any 965, 975, or 680i board you want. All you have to do is find one that has 2 ide ports (i'm assuming you have at least one cd/dvd drive to connect as well as the hard drives). If you don't have any cd/dvd drives to connect, then you only need one ide port. All of those boards will support your memory, but unless you overclock, it is not going to be running at 1066mhz (i might be mistaken, I'm basing this off the C2D's speed at stock which does not even run 800mhz ram at it's rated speed).
