I just got a used gateway w/ 800MHz and 256mb ram, what Os should i use? i already hace pc/s running windows Xp home, 2000 and 2003, i dont really have any use for xp pro.

2000 Professional would be good for it. Maybe XP Corp if you cut down some of the crap that comes installed as default.

If you really don't want those two, either 98SE or some Linux distro.

im leaning awy from linux cuz i still want to be able to run VB6

Yeah, it's possible. Just watch what you install and keep a RAM cleaner program handy.

I've run 98SE crunching SETI for nearly two months on a Pentium in the other room, was still at 95% GDI resources free when I shut it down after 50 days. 98SE has a memory leak in the same place ME does (if I remember right), so it shouldn't be very difficult to keep the OS in one piece.
