Ok what do I have to get, or be a pretty darn good idea to have if i am planning to build a computer. (I am talking about peripherals not like a cpu, mobo, etc. more along the lines of zalman heatsink, a fan controler, thermal grease, etc.) Thanks

ummm....not sure exactly what you mean.

The bare essentials would be (you absolutely gotta have this stuff):

case/power supply
motherboard
processor
heatsink for processor (it may or may not come with one)
TIM (or thermal interface material. thermal grease or thermal pad...heatsink may or may not come with it)
hard drive
optical drive
video card
beer
monitor
keyboard
mouse
operating system (ie - windows installation CD)
RAM

other stuff (you will probably need this stuff):

screwdriver (duh!)
IDE cables (may come with hard drive or motherboard)
sound card and speakers
network card and/or modem
beer
case fans (your case may come with one or two)

can't think of anything else off the top of my head that is REALLY necessary. anything else (like a fan controller that you mentioned) is really just fluffy icing on the cake.

gahdzila
the way i understand it is more like "get the lite-on cd model XXXX"

might be wrong but at the first reading, soud like that to me.

Everything about money, if u show the money, you will get a top notch pc.

Mother board: one with nforce2 chipset (depends if u whant to overclock or not. If yes, get an asus, epox or abit)

Case: Antec

Power supply: Antec at least 400W

CPU: AMD barton (check in some post, you'll find a good series for overclocking)

Heat sink: swiftech, zalman, volcano 9-11+ series (copper model)

Memory: DDR 400 at least 512mb (corsair, ocz, crucial)

Hard disk: maxtor, IBM (only if you get the nforce2 chipset that lock pci/agp), WD

Video card: ATI 9800

Sound card: fortissimo III, soundblaster audidgy

Speaker: heu.... ask someone else :D

Monitor: viewsonic 19"

Keyboard: logitech

Mouse: optical logitech

Beer: as you wish ;) (but don't do the same as i done, don't format your backup drive because you're too drunk and forget the fact DOS don't see your C drive if this one is NTFS with XP)

I'm pretty sure i forget something but that give's you a start !

I'm not saying that i ave the truth or all my choice are the best but that will be something like that i would build. Someone else could tell my choice aren't that good but hey, that gonna be YOUR pc so...

finally, money talk's so again, everything depends the amount of money you're ready to spent ;)

BTW, if i didn't get the meening of your post, be gentle, tell me. I'm a french guy so i could easely made a mistake in english :D

fluffy iceing on the cake is what im talking about. I already have the "I am talking about peripherals not like a cpu, mobo, etc" What i mean is like i prolly ought to get some arctic silver, some cathode lights...
Thanks guys

You've got some good questions on the other forums, so I won't talk about those. I'm going to ask you one question, rather...Are you looking to make your system look cool?

If so, one way to go would be to get a UV cold cathode light and UV-sensitive cables. You went to the XaserIII case, and I have no opinions on the look of it, so I'll spare you that much. :) I know you're going for the SFII w/cool-mod, but is it hooked up to a HSF or are you using it as a case fan (forgive me as I haven't read all the thread in GC yet, so I'm not sure if you mentioned what HS you're using)?

Ummm....How many fans are you planning to control? If it's just that one, the Nexus Multipanel looks cool and I've had no problems with it. However if it's more or if you want the room to upgrade, then the Nexus Fan controller is cool too. :)

wow, nerdlogic, yes pretty much im trying to go from some easy things to make my case look cool, and Xaser III comes with 7 fans, and the controler it comes with only controls 4, thast why im also getting the Nexus. I just ordered 4 Blue Cathode lights off of www.frozencpu.com when they were 3.99 each.:D Thats all I have so far. I didn't want UV lights for two reason, 1) They are supposed to eat away your eyes 2) My parents wouldn't approve of things eating away my eyes.;)
The heatsink i am getting is the ZALMAN CNPS-7000-CU.
The Smart fan along with a tornado and two other non cool mod smart fans are for the case fans.

I'm guesing all the fans in your system are going to have LED lights? You could get a design for your side window(Directron.com offers etched appliques)...you could also have a laser-cut fan grilles for your led fans. That's all I could think of for now.
