I know I want crucial, but I am not too familiar with ddr memory, I probably want a good amount 512 maybe. I am not sure If I should get the 2100 or the 1600 version. The 2100 has clk 2.5 as the 1600 has clk 2 and yes I know 2100 is faster, but help my confusion, thanks.

It depends on what type of processor you get, whether its a 266 or 200mhz bus speed pc2100 is for the 266 and pc1600 is for the 200 if I am not mistaken. I hope that helps.

The problem isn't really with the KG7 though, it is the amd760, and all of the boards using it have the same limit..

Well to answer your question if you only intend on having two sticks of ram and never installing ram in the 3rd and 4th ddr dimm slots you can get 2 sticks of pc2100 unregistered with the cas latency of 2.5 (overclockable to 2/2/2) I currently have 512 mb of this specific ram and I love it..Got it at crucial.com for 57.00 each shipped free (Cheaper than pc133!!) Now heres the kicker amd 760 specifications state that thier 760 is only compatible with 2 unregistered dimms so unless you plan on getting registered ecc ram these other 2 ddr dimms will be usless. I'm running windows 2000 professional on 512 mb of Micron ddrpc2100 and it runs superbly.. overclocked to 146mhz fsb with the cas latencys set to 2/2/2/ should get 150plus but I think my modem or my soundcard is slowing me down from getting any higher.. here is my system specs so u can get a idea of what I got.. I also plan on getting the abit Kg-7 raid this month.. Looks like it'll easily get the top ddr motherboard honors..

How do you know if it is registered or unregistered. Would crucial 2100 ram be registered? Thanks this helps guys. I will definitly get this mobo.

Go to crucial.com and look at all the diffrent ram modules should be easy to see which ones are which.. They only make 3 diffrent types 1) registered w/ ecc 2) registered and 3) unbuffered the unbuffered is the one I'd get it's what I'm using right now.. registered and ecc is more for servers and such.. For gaming and web browsing I would think unbuffered would be fine here is the part number you need from crucial. com Part # CT 3264z265.16T
Last time I checked this ram was about $57.00 plus free second day shipping!! 8-10 bucks cheaper than pc 133 for the 256mb sticks. Can't beat that, lol
