I just purchased a VisionTek GeForce2 MX 400 64MB with pci slot(wont get it until couple of days). My old card was a intel graphics controller 82810E with 4 mb video. I am getting 20 fps right now and was wondering what u think my new fps will be.

I would think you can run 3 times what you ran before for fps. It all depends on your settings. PS welcome to the forums.

even with some AA and ansio filtering, youll prolly hit like 50fps.
its much better to play with a lower frame rate and the settings on the card up IMHO. have fun fragging

with my setup i get 240+ FPS. to see your FPS type in the console

timerefresh

that will show you your FPS, take a note now with the intel graphics and do one later with the GF2 to see your real
performance gain. :p

um, the half-life engine cant do more than 99fps, even if u type fps_max 200. its a game engine limit. im always at 99 with all settings maxed

Malakai is right if you set the max fps over 100 it will only max out at 99. mine stays pinned at 99.

So when you do timerefresh in the console, what does that number mean compared to cl_showfps?

btw my card still hasnt been shipped yet. The people at
comp-u-plus have the week off.

the timerefresh is a more detailed reading of your FPS and computers performance and i'd trust that over anything.
