Hey guys I was wondering what I would need to cut a 120mm fan hole at the front of my chieftec dragon case. I plan on cutting a hole large enough for a panaflow 120mm fan for my bix pro radiator. So i'm guesing I would need a dremel right? but if anyone has pics of doing this or a guide that would be great.

I use a Rotozip with a circle guide attachment. It makes almost perfect holes and will cut metal, wood, and acrylic (without chipping). The easiest way to get your holes is to actually take the two fans, lay them where you want them to go, trace your outline of the circle to cut and your mounting holes. To use the Rotozip, I then just measure and find the center of hole, drill my pilot hole, and cut away. The circle guide works really nice. I think there is some kind of a circle guide attachment also for the dremel that I have seen at Lowe's. Using a circle guide attachment sure beats freehanding it.

I used a crappy dremel type of thing and it worked good, just go SLOW and make sure you have plenty of time otherwise rushing will make it look really bad.

substitute a 120mm size for the one in my picture above and you get the idea. You can grab one from homo depo. Bring your fan grills to the store with you so you can get the propper size...

forget the Dremel! for 120/80 holes there is nothing better than a hole saw...
makes perfect holes, are not that expensive and will last you a long time...

A 5 1/4" hole saw will run you about $40, and most drills won't have the kind of power necessary to cut a hole with a hole saw in metal as it grabs and won't cut. Hole saws work fine for wood, but not metal. You can go the Dremel route if you already have one, otherwise buy/beg/borrow the Rotozip and spend $25 more on a circle guide. A Rotozip will cut it with no problem, it is just easy to get almost perfect holes with the guide.

Ok guys i just went out and bought a dremel and performed my 120mm fan casemod tell me what u think.

oh yea that was done by hand. The dremel I bought comes with a free hole cutting accesory but I couldnt use it cuz there was no place to drill a pilot hole since there was a grill where i cut out the main big 120mm hole. I plan on doing a casemod for the top of my case with the holecutting dremel attachment tho for the heck of it. maybe add some 120mm silent fans for more cooling hahahaha or a bix2

I plan on putting the radiator in this loop by that hole! Btw this is a chieftec dragon case. The loop I'm using is from the corsair COOL kit. pics
