What's a good, free program to resize pics?

I use --Paint.net-- to resize my images. It is quick and easy, and it allows you to re-save those images in different quality modes. You can also give --GIMP-- a try, as it supposedly does a good job too (and is also free). Instructions on how to resize an image with GIMP can be found --Here--.

Could not quickly find a download link to Gimp so I tried 3 other free programs and could not get them to easily crop, resize, etc. Then I found "Image Sizer" which is shareware. So I'm using it for it's 10 day trial period and it's doing what I need. Thanks

second the irfanview suggestion - free, low overhead, easy to use, and doesn't require a .net installation if you don't have one.

yah 3rd for irfanviewer... works great for converting anything to anything too :)

havent tried paint.net though, I basically use only regular XP paint for screen shotting cropping and doodling on, does everything I need it too... resizing with it is a guessing game, so I just use imageshacks autoresizing for forum post pics :)

I have irfanview, very nice. However, I have never known it to be able to perform the photo editing functions that I needed. Thanks

Dude, What are you doing?

You specifically asked for a program to resize pics. Irfanview can do this and does it very well. If it is other stuff you want to do then tell us so we can give you a relevant answer.

It is your fault you are not getting an answer that will work:mad:

Hey Kendan,

I think that he already got the answer that he wanted when he stated that he found the shareware program "Image Sizer", and that it was doing what he needed.

Also, I think you might have taken his last post the wrong way, as he (giving him the benefit of the doubt), was probably just trying to convey the fact that he wasn't aware of irfanview being able to resize images.

Actually he did not find what he asked for. Reread his original post and you will see what I am talking about.

Yeah... What he said.

IrFanView is one of the best quick and dirty image editing freeware apps out there. I use it all the time for resizes and file conversions. I also have PhotoShop which does a slightly better job but it takes more time just to open than IrFanView takes to do the deeds.

I am glad, 1Time, that you have found a program that does what you wanted to do. But, next time, to speed up the process and help us give you the best advice, it would be helpful if you were to state exactly what you wanted to do in your original post. Although all of the programs listed in this thread are great, some are better tailored to different needs. For instance, for more advanced photo editing, irfanview just might not cut it, and you might have to try something else.

Also, after discussing things with Kendan, we have both come to the conclusion that a 10 day trial program just doesn't quite cut it, so, courtesy of him, GIMP for Windows can be found --Here--.
Enjoy:santa:

Gimp for Windows is very similar to Paint Shop Pro and very capable. It's also freeware, not shareware.
